In my case, mine was the only house on the street where they were working and work did not begin until midday so there was minimal disruption and deliveries were not impacted. The impact on your street depends on the amount of work Montana is doing there .
The amount of disruption depends on how many of your neighbors have lead pipes and how many of the properties they are doing at the same time. On my walks about town, I have encountered situations where the street and sidewalks on both sides were impassible due to a combination of digging and positioning of heavy equipment. However, this was not the case on other streets where they were replacing water lines at only a few of the properties.
If you walk to work or train or bus, you should be able to get through with no trouble, especially if you leave early in the morning and return in early evening. If you use a car to get to work, you will be advised to park your car on a street where they are not working. No parking signs will be posted in front of the location where they are working on both sides of the street stating dates during which they expect to work on your street.
Deliveries will depend on the delivery driver. I have seen some disregard the closed street sign while others might delay delivery until the following day.

thanks Joan. I am trying to contact the project contact to get more info unique to my own situation but they are not answering calls and don't have voice mail set up. It is frustrating.
Getting in and out of the house should not be a problem.
Deliveries could be a problem due to the issues that Joan described. For my street, we were still able to get deliveries.

After my house was skipped three times, I was able to get help from the town engineer's office.
Thank you both. I think the issue I am (only slightly) worried about is prob no big deal ... I will still try to reach the guy and get an answer if I can but it is probably going to be fine. Thanks again.
They usually won’t be working on all the homes on your street at the same time. They usually only do about four homes in a single day. You will be able to get in and out your street. As for delivery drivers they park and walk. It’s really not a huge problem. You can always ask the guys working for advance notice as to when they will be doing your house. They block off the entire street but you can get through by speaking to the police officer who will be there.
If your water meter is still in the house and needs to be moved to the curb or the water service line in your house needs to be replaced, someone will need to be home while work is being done inside your house. in my case the crew took approximately four hours from start to finish. Other's experience may be different.

My street hasn't been done yet. But will be soon. Question - if my section of road is closed, will people be able to make deliveries, and will be able to get out of the house to get to work etc? It isn't at all clear on the flyer they left at our house. I know most of the town has been done at this point so some of you have already experienced this.
