Letting a stranger into the house is not a wise idea, to say the least!
My wife just had someone knock on our door claiming to offer us a 'discount' on our PSE&G bill. She let this person inside our house. When I got him on the phone, he claimed he was with a company called SSE. He said, "you can look on the third page of your bill" to see what the discount might be. The third page of our bill mentions third party suppliers, so...
I called PSE&G and to my complete non-surprise, they have never heard of the company and it's not listed on their list of suppliers. There IS an SSE, but it services the UK.
If this happens to you, beware! I'm not sure what he was after but it's not real.
