Problems with Fios Cable Breaking Up?

Our cable seems to have gone haywire -- channels are consistently breaking up, digital break up with picture and loss of audio in and out.  Some channels worse than others.  Anyone else experiencing this annoyance?  Time for us to get a new box?  Sorry to interrupt your evening discussions...just frustrated.

Have you tried FIOS auto repair tools? We've had occasional problems, which went away with their auto-reset.

we had this and if you just reset it, it stops

Easiest is to call FIOS tech support.  It may take a while to get someone on the line; but, it is worth the wait (if any).  They will be able to determine if the problem is with the box, router, or if a reset is needed.  If the box or router is in need of replacement, they can help with that too.

Try tightening the coax cable on both sides.  My son liked to loosen and its such an easy thing to try.

Reboot both the router and the cable box(es).  If that doesn't work, check the cables as bog said.  If that doesn't work, call Verizon.

Can you tell how much I enjoy dealing with Verizon?

Especially with the strike on?

What he said. If you want to not completely bang your head against a wall, do this while you call Verizon as the first thing the auto-agent will make you do is reboot your box. Also, there's a supposed hard reboot Verizon can do from their end where they can reboot everything from the main feed into your house. They did this once and it improved the signal for a bit. In addition, do you know which channels are having problems? We had a similar issue where one signal was weak and caused us to lose the channels I prefer to watch (or the box was conspiring against my poor taste in Bravo shows). They were able to improve the signal. Or they said they did and just gave us a new box. Either way, fixed the problem. No financial cost but the opportunity cost and brain cells lost having the discussion with them is enormous.

Use a wrench to tighten the coax connectors. It actually makes a difference, though most people only finger-tighten them.
