East Orange Water Commission (“EOWC”) has notified the Village of a water main break in their main supply line in Milburn, which is the source of water to South Orange, which may have occurred as early as yesterday. The broken main has been shut down and an emergency interconnection with New Jersey American Water has been opened to continue uninterrupted water supply to the Village. This main break and/or the opening of the interconnection could cause brown or murky water in the distribution system. EOWC reports that the repair is expected to be completed within the next 24 hours.
