Please adopt this wonderful cat!!

My niece has a beautiful, calico, female cat, Cassie, 9 years old, that she needs to rehome.  Cassie was a rescue at about 1yr old, and has moved from South Orange, NJ to California and back to NJ, Maplewood. She has been a poster child/cat through it all, sweet, mellow, doggish. Even when a new baby came into the picture, she was calm, tolerant, and flexible. The first child is two and a half now, and a new baby arrived months ago. It seems this has tipped the scale for Cassie, and she scratched the older child the other day when he toddled up to her as he was used to doing with no repercussions whatsoever. The family is getting ready to move again, across country, and it would be unquestionably ill-advised to include Cassie in this new move/ family unit. I want to say that as a pet person, I have always thought that Cassie was a great cat and was always impressed with her. I hope that someone without young children will be ready to take Cassie into a stable, forever home from here on out. Cassie offers no kitten shenanigans, a lovely, calm temperament in general, and a belly-rubbing , social, hang-out, dog-like demeanor. Please reply to my email: hellodelo@aol.com

if she came from a rescue org, they may take her back.  the one I know of actually has it written into the adoption contract that the cat must be returned to them if the owner can't care for it....was actually a big issue with lawyers fighting over a cat when my neighbor died.  The estate lawyer was threatened with criminal prosecution for refusing to turn over the cat to the rescue....and it was in a foster home the next day.

Thank you so much for your caring reply. The thing is, it's been 9 years since she was a rescue, and I'm tying to not put her into a rescue situation now again. She will make someone a wonderful companion, I guarantee this! and I'm hoping someone connected to Maplewood online will want her, or know somebody who does.

She could come to Petco West Orange on Saturdays. I do adoption events. Usually under my rescue but I'm currently sitting with cats from my friend's rescue. One of you would need to bring her and stay from 11 - 2. I could provide the cage. We've been doing pretty well with adult cats but that will change rapidly as the new kittens become available. She would need all of her shots updated, and proof of  testing for FIV/FELV. If she has been indoor outdoor she would need to be kept indoors and given a new test. Often rescues will at least post for her on Petfinder. I would be willing to post her on my Petfinder site.

As well, try posting her picture at her vet's office.

Thank you very much! I'll pass this on to her.

Of course.

She's gorgeous and there are many people who specifically love calicos.
