Peterborough, NH

Excellent town with good food (Marzano's, among others), the Peterborough Players (Carolyn Michel & Taurean Blaque starring in "Driving Miss Daisy"), and, of course, MOUNTAINS! Also the inspiration for Grover's Corners in "Our Town"...

Ever been?

A typical parking coincidence in Peterborough, NH...

Gourmet bagels, too.

Have you checked in at Burdick's?

We will be there in August for the Jaffrey fireworks.

Burdick is in Walpole, nearly 40 miles from Peterborough, though a pretty ride. When you are home in or near Maplewood you are closer than that to the Burdick in the Flatiron District, though the ride and ambience are not as charming.

Maybe so. My sister lives in Keene and I used to go up there to ride between Peterborough and Keene, the hills on 101 & up Monadnock, etc.

You just get used to the longer distances when you live in places like that I guess.

Greeting from Jaffrey.  Make sure you go to both Pearl Oyster Bar and Bantam Grill.  Ignore the Radio Shack between them, those are both the best restaurants in the area.  I'm sure the Laundramat is excellent too.

Yes, the Pearl Oyster Bar is wonderful, as is Waterhouse on Depot Square. The Pearl offers outdoor dining on a canopied deck attached to the building's side, and Waterhouse has lovely views of the river where Peterborough's OWN Duck Race winds up...

BTW: A treasure: In the middle of The Pearl's strip mall is a pizzeria run by an Italian guy from Summit, NJ! He's old school, and offers the authentic sorta stuff you can't get anyplace else in the area. Delish.

Been there.  Brother lives in Dublin.

The amazingly-sited Asian Eatery Kogetsu ( http://www.kogetsunh.com/home/ ) was the venue for a post-matinee soiree with the cast of "Driving Miss Daisy" - which closes very soon at the Peterborough Players barn/theater... Go if you can.
