I thought Verjus was closing back at the end of October.
It kept getting extended along with their closing activities. I think part of it had to do with the transfer of the liquor license. As often happens, it has taken longer than expected. Also, they have apparently had a surge of "last minute" customer interest, so it made sense to continue as long as they still own the business anyway.
This is weird topic. What does Verjus have to do with Parkwood being closed? I too just called them and recording said they were closed until 12/18. I assume it's Covid quarantine related. Can anyone speak to that? Like a retired health officer?
As to Verjus, I barely have eaten there but reading the above off topic posts seems like they're closing at some point for good. I wish them well in their future endeavors. They were wonderful.
I am prone to do thread drifts on MOL and in my life. Perhaps a thread on thread drifts would be fun.
All fine. But does someone in fact know why the Parkwood is currently closed? TIA.

There oughta be a penalty jar for drifting threads.

Why? It isn't necessarily always a bad thing.
Back to the point: Wendy is right. What is going on with Parkwood Dinner? We all love this dinner.
I'm pretty sure I saw someone in there on Tuesday - I'm guessing Covid related - at least there is a return date.
I know of a hair salon - not around here where all the hairdressers had Covid. Now they're back after quarantining.
As to Verjus, I'm still getting their daily menu. They are way past their expected close date, perhaps it fell through.

Last I heard (from Jane, when placing an order last week), it was just that everything was taking longer than expected and demand was still there, so they were carrying on in the meanwhile.
We ordered from Verjus for tonight. I'm happy for us, not sure if they're happy to still be working.
Verified today that Park Wood is closed temporarily because they had a case of COVID. I don't know who there has taken ill. Whoever it is who has taken ill, I wish him/her a speedy and complete recovery.

Amen!!
Speaking of Verjus (thanks for confirming the Parkwood closing reason and hope for a speedy recovery) I received an email from them that their closing is going slower than expected (the Long Goodbye) and so they'll be still providing Christmas Eve and New Year's eve dinners.
Anyone know where Verjus liquor license is transferring to?

A local developer has bought the license and the property and will build mixed-use with a bar on the first level.

I think he was being facetious. As opposed to fecestious, which means you are full of ****.
The thread is drifting again!
My wife and I ordered takeout from there a little over two weeks ago and each have a couple of symptoms so just got tested. Are the restaurants/diners supposed to contact customers from a certain timeframe if they have somebody test positive?

not for takeout...some places are taking names and numbers for dine in since that is high risk...take out is very low risk unless you are inside without masks for 5 minutes+ (they say 15 minute exposure over 24 hours). even if there were germs on containers...touch contact risk is very low.
I forgot about the Park Wood closure and called today. The phone greeting says that they are reopening tomorrow - Saturday, 12/19.
Six years ago (and perhaps again since then as well?), Park Wood Diner donated a terrific holiday meal for local seniors. Pete and Fifi are wonderful, generous folks, and deserve your support, now perhaps more than ever! Please do continue to patronize this beloved eatery in these trying times...
-s.
They have been donating a holiday meal to seniors every year. Last year was a terrific Thanksgiving lunch at the Senior Center. They definitely do deserve our thanks and our support.
Just called to order dinner and a recording came on saying they would be closed until December 21st. Anyone know what's up? Just some vacation time?
