Parks opening?

Anyone heard if our two towns are opening parks this weekend? Tennis courts? What about the reservation?

Thanks!

hmm, state parks are and golf courses are allowed.  Perhaps the mayor will include this info in today's update.

Memorial and Maplecrest have been open when I walk past.  No effective way to close them short of putting up storm fencing around the entire perimeter.  Concern here seems to be for the Reservation which is a county facility.

There are no state parks in Essex County as well as Warren County and Camden County..

Essex County

County Executive Joe DiVincenzo, Jr. tweeted its parks will reopen on Saturday.

"Our Essex parks will reopen for passive recreation use and golf courses will offer modified play," wrote DiVencenzo, noting that facial coverings and social distancing will be required.

My advice, stay away from county and state parks this weekend.  It's going to be a clusterf#ck.

One big caveat is they are saying there will be no restroom facilities open, at least according to what’s in the Ledger. While I totally understand that from a public health perspective, it certainly puts limitations on park visits, especially for those with children in tow. Especially since there are virtually no open public restrooms around anywhere else these days, either.

Seeing a written number seems insufficient to visualize lost souls so here is another way. Each dot represents a person who has died from the virus in my beloved Garden State. Viewers may have to scroll to see all 7,300. Personally, I'm not quite ready to become one of these dots or believe that it somehow just won't happen to me. Tomorrow is my birthday and I prefer it were not my last.

 Happy birthday.

Thanks Joan! Here is a picture of me exactly 65 years ago (as of tomorrow morning). I'd like to think that I got a little better looking than this although my hair is still pretty much the same.

It should be duly noted that the nurse is wearing a mask, heh.
