Olympic Park

Trivia question. There was a carousel at Olympic Park. Where is it now?

Cool map.

That is really neat - I was always fascinated by it - but never really understood the exact location.  This map helps - here's it is transposed onto a google map.

Any markers from it still remaining?

postcard - The Largest Merry Go Round

We do have a Olympic Industrial Park - and this marker is on Chancellor by Camptown road.

A lot of good images here:

(Actually - soul29 had this in his first post.)

The Olympic Park carousel is now the carousel at Walt Disney World. I've seen the plaque on it describing that's where it came from.

It is interesting that Lightning Brook formed the west and south borders of the park.  This deep ravine may have served as a natural boundary, but I wonder if kids could have found a way to sneak in.

we were in guest services at WDW one time about 15 years ago, and when the person at the counter saw we were from Maplewood, she asked "Did you know the carousel at the Magic Kingdom is from Maplewood?!"

and we were able to say "of course we do"grin

In a, "Gee, that's not the least bit creepy" kinda way.  smile

speaking of creepy, several years back I came across a bunch of pictures of Olympic Park that were taken after the park was permanently closed, but a lot of the attractions were still there. Not much that's creepier than an abandoned, decaying amusement park.

It was a couple down from my own which I had found and posted earlier.

Did you see some teens with a Great Dane and a brightly colored van?

Thursdays were .10 days with the strip of coupons.

Tuesday was Fisher bread day… free admission with end wrapper logo.

Where is the plaque located I've been casually looking for it over the years.

Chancellor Avenue by Camptown road.

Isn't the plaque relatively new within the past couple of years?

Was it only open during summer months?

I was disappointed that my my mother wouldn't let me swim in the Olympic Park pool, for fear of polio, pre Salk vaccine..... Meanwhile, I had an imaginary playmate who lived under the roller coaster named Fine Fine.
