I used to be a regular at the bar at KNICKERBOCKER on University and 9th. Great drinks, food and steaks.
Not a steakhouse per se (and not Per Se, either), but a decade or so later my dad still remembers the steak he and I shared at the Standard Grill as the best he’s ever had in his 88 years. The current menu lists a dry-aged ribeye for two for $160 (including sides), but I think we ordered a special, perhaps a chateaubriand or a porterhouse.
You’re probably looking for something more definitively a steakhouse, but that’s my shout-out anyway.
We very much enjoyed Keens, too, but I hesitated to recommend it as I don't know the status post sale. Glad to hear it is still good.
It’s not a traditional steakhouse like Smith and Wollensky, but if I’m in the mood for steak, I love to go to Churrascaria Plataforma. Jerry Ryan, may he rest in peace, introduced me to the place.

I was all in until I found out that he’s a huge Trump supporter.

Ugh - didn't realize Tilman bought it and didn't know he was a Trumper. That is a bummer.

Smith&Wollensky for 👍 sure.
Agree 110%, though my experience goes back (a few
) years. But Peter Luger is still the experience I dream about (and Brooklyn is still in NYC). No idea how long it takes to get a rez these days, but if you go, be sure to get the Apfel Strudel MIT SCHLAG!

Favorites, anyone? Anyone been to Wolfgang’s?
edited: decided I want great Italian. Thanks!
