New restaurant in Millburn - grand opening today

The Saigon Cafe on Essex Street in Millburn opened for business today.  Wanted to share in case anyone is interested in Vietnamese foods.  The menu includes smoothies, ACAI bowls, and the popular Thai Iced Tea.  They are open until 9pm.

The Pho is SO good!

In the Bella's Bakery Spot?

yes ! Saw it today, in Bella's spot

SO SOOOO EXCITED!!!

If you ask for banh mi at Viet Ai (an amazing spot) they just look at you sideways and laugh at you. Great to hear it can now be found more locally than Kam Man.

My partner had Banh Mi with a side of summer rolls at Saigon Cafe last night and said it was good.  The folks that own & run the cafe seem very kind.

They have indoor and outdoor dining.  The outdoor patio is right next to Millburn parking lot#5 (between Dunkin Donuts & Town Hall) and has steps to enter the restaurant area.  The outdoor patio has large umbrellas so it is a great place to step out of the hot sun.

I had one of their smoothies this morning too.  Very good.  Going to try the ACAI bowl next.

Lunch -- we had steamed dumplings and veggie Pho. Excellent. The place is still on soft opening. The biggest future problem will be the small space,  especially when winter sets in.

lunch today.  very pleased.

Had lunch there today - shrimp summer rolls good (with nice peanut dipping sauce), dumplings (fried, would have preferred steamed, but still good), Pho and banh mi very good.  Will definitely go back.

I think so.  I saw several couples walk in with bottles.  The Banh Mi was very good.

here now!  Its sooo good

We had steamed dumplings.. just ask.

Here's my take.

The banh mi was outstanding, incredible melange of flavors and they got the bread right -- that's so important to have real crusty French bread.

Pho was sublime. The only pho I've had on this level was during my travels in Vietnam and this one spot in LA,  sort of a downtown area? Can't remember. 5 star pho.

Overall I give it one star out of five. I really wanted phan nuong ven nouc, which isn't on the menu. So when I ordered it they told me it takes 36 hours to prepare and they don't make it, which is ridiculous as it only takes half a day to make.

one star when you loved it that much?

Sounds like a four notch deduction for lack of phan nong whatever,

Grocerylist is what's known as a wiseguy (or gal), orzabelle. Marvel at the wicked satire, then enjoy the rest of your day.

Yeah, give us a hint about "phan nuong ven nouc."  I copied the phrase into the Google translator and got "baking section along Events."

that's every MOL soft opening restaurant review ever.

if the owners of the business read that, you are 5 out of 5 stars. you are the best. sorry if i confused anyone.

So did you like the bahn mi and pho or not? Not quite grasping which part of your post is the satire.

GO THERE NOW AND EAT THAT

Eat what? Banh mi? Pho? I truly cannot tell if you're being serious or what the point of your posts is. Never mind, I guess. Sometimes it's better to actually contribute than to make fun of other people's contributions? But whatever makes you happy, I guess.

Doh! I always assume people I don't know are being literal. I never pick up on anonymous (to  me) on-line sarcasm.

I mean, are you saying you've traveled in Vietnam or is that just a joke? Why is it funny to you that people might actually know what they're talking about? The object/point of your satire eludes me.

I thought it was funny -- a spot-on spoof of countless previous MOL restaurant reviews.
