My NL Playoff predictions

Yeah, it's way to early but here it goes:

Pirates vs Cubs in the WC game: Pirates win.

Cards vs Pirates: Cards win.

Mets vs Dodgers: Mets win.

Cards vs Mets in the NLCS. Waino makes a miracle recovery and strikes out David Wright with a wicked curve to seal the series and go on to face the Royals. That's after Harvey pitches 8 innings of 2 hit, no run ball and Familia gives up a 3-run HR to Grichuk in the bottom of the 8th.

What? No 3rd strike looking with the bases loaded?

No Giants? I'm guessing they make it...(likely over Cubs)

I think jeffl is trying to placate his neighbor with his prediction.

Having grown up (and still am) a Cubs fan, I can say there's no such thing...we always hope for the best but expect disappointment...

While I'm absolutely not beneath doing that, I actually think the Mets have the starters to make hay. Scary good rotation. Maybe the best in baseball. It's the BP that's suspect.

So far, I've got it right...from almost two months ago! Yay me!

Going to be very tough for Pittsburgh to beat Arrieta in a one game playoff next week. Going to be very tough for the Mets (or anyone else) to beat the Dodgers with Kershaw and Greinke pitching the way that they are right now...but I'll stick with my predictions.

Met/Cards in the NLCS!!!

neighbor appeasement! cheese

I agree about Pitt-Chicago - I think Chicago with Arrieta will pull it out. Not that it matters since Cards will likely beat either team...

While I'm a huuuuuuuuge Cardinals fan, I think, right now, they have the worst team to put on the field. If they didn't have home field advantage throughout the playoffs, I think they'd be underdogs to anyone.

All pitchers have off games. Good hitters catch up at one time or another to even great pitchers. I would not automatically assume that Kershaw and Greinke * are mortal locks. Sure, they are damned good. But the Mets in the second half have beaten some damned good pitchers. And the Mets have their own coterie of damned fine arms to keep it close.

You gotta win three games to move on. Anything is possible now.

* Or Arietta.

Arieta is due for an off game. Hope he saves it for the Pirates.

19-8, 2.60 and 200+ strikeouts not garnering much love here.

I speak of Gerrit Cole.

Lucky for all the other divisions that, of the three best teams in baseball right now, only one will be left standing after the first wild card playoff and semi-final round 1.

There's no crying in baseball

I'm 0 for 1. Arrieta is this year's Bumgarner.

McFly!!!

according to 538, predicting this year's NL champ according to any available information is very difficult. They're going with the Cubs (yesterday they were saying "wild card winner). But the spread of probabilities was only a low of 7% for the Cubs (pre-Wild Card. it's certain that their odds are now considerably higher) to 13% for St. Louis. For Mets fans -- they put the odds of winning it all at 9%, but also acknowledge that the indicators for the Mets are mixed, making predictions for them difficult.

I really think itsthe Rangers vs the Mets this year.

That would be cool for Syndergaard, who is from Arlington, TX. (well, Mansfield)

Like I said, Blue Jays vs. the Cubbies.

I've been wrong with every prediction so far. I hope I get LA/NY right...

Go METS!

I think the entire playoff results so far are proof of collusion between MLB and the lobby that supports the royal blue/blue hex (Dodger blue) apparel dye manufacturers. Consider the five teams still left as of today.
