Montreal for New Year's

I've never been to Montreal, but have a trip planned for the week after Christmas, through New Year's. Any suggestions for places I should go? Dining and entertainment suggestions are appreciated! And what should I do for New Year's Eve? Just thinking dinner and maybe some dancing, nothing really crowded and boisterous...

Two years ago we had a really nice Christmas Eve at Chez L'Epicier, with locally sourced food and Canadian wine. If they have a dinner it is worth checking out, with ice skating after at Bonsecours Basin.

Thank you j_r..., will check that out! Maybe we'll just watch the ice skating, as I'm a lousy skater! And yes, PetuniaBird, I definitely saw that...got me jazzed as it all looks wonderful! Will certainly check out the Biome!

We didnt make it but we were told by so many to go to BOTA BOTA -SPA ON BOAT

Keep an eye on weather and plan accordingly. Winter there is no joke. But nothing ever shuts down, which is the good thing.

Merci!

Sheila, I saved all of those links...the Laloux New Year's eve with jazz looks promising.

Yes, I am packing for layering...and bought some good waterproof, shearling lined boots, and a packable down jacket; I am preparing for it to be really cold.

Tip if you rent a car there, but not recommended. Metro is excellent there. Keep your windows cracked at night. When the wife an I went in winter once I closed all the windows and the water vapor from our breath froze on the inside of the windows.

I especially love Kazu, and Kitchen Galerie. I have been to Montreal 5 times and always go to Kitchen Galerie. I think the only reason its not rated higher is the location.
