May 10th 7:45 pm planning committee re Dunnell Rd - voice your opinion

67-79 dunnell rd. redevelopment "two year window" expired/closed April 2016... BUT....

The lawyer for the property above has requested an extension (see attached) for an additional year "due to economic downturn of the economy".... in other words, the online "For Sale" posting of the 3 buildings at $1.8M means that they have not yet found a buyer OR redeveloper to take on the project and therefore wants to use the "rights to redevelop until 6/2017" perhaps as a carrot to find a buyer?

As far as most real estate folks and investors can tell, tons of people are coming to MW and buying up property at higher and higher prices... what is this downturn they speak of?

Come, tomorrow tuesday, let your voice be heard regarding a new cul-de-sac and high density units - 10 units/duplexes - go up and further congest the limited visibility of the high traffic, speeders, etc on this "S" shaped road,  next to the fire station, across from the side walk of YMCA kids, middle and high school kids, commuters, and children's playground.

This item will not be heard on May 10th based on a request by the applicant. It will be scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday, June 14th at 8pm.

Why does everything have to be delivered in this nasty, snarky, accusatory tone? What ever happened to civil public discourse? Couldn't you just say that you have concerns about (...) and encourage your neighbors to attend the meeting to learn more and share their views? I'm honestly trying to understand why it is so common now. Do you think that this writing style will get everyone worked up and involved -- more so than just stating the facts?

True, but I'm still trying to figure out what the "limited visibility of the high traffic, speeders, etc on this "S" shaped road,  next to the fire station, across from the side walk of YMCA kids, middle and high school kids, commuters, and children's playground" has to do with it.

Are there any alternative plans for the site?  Right now it has a run down garage on the property.  Or is the alternative for it to remain a decaying eyesore?

In any case, 10 apartments will have negligible impact on traffic.

can't we repurpose the garage?

Just kidding.

Are you?

here's the chance for the local gadflies to raise some money, gather some investors, and build their public living room/gallery/performance space just steps from the village and the park.  Seems like an awesome opportunity, given what goldmine a repurposed public space would be.

67-79 Dunnell Road includes the garage and two houses (at least on google maps).

That's a bad location for another apartment building due to proximity to the fire station and the blind corner.

We can't have apartment buildings near fire stations? Hmm. I think we need a NIMBY rulebook. It all gets so confusing. Could you all put something together? No building can be taller than any other building. No building can cast a shadow. No building can be visible from the train-station platform. No building can house people who use the train or own cars. No building can rent to retail establishments that are in any way similar to pre-existing retail establishments. What else?

Starbucks would pay taxes which would lower the rents

NYC citizens are so full of caffeine they are oblivious to the cost of living
