Maplewood Porchfest 2019 -Sunday September 1

Imagine strolling the streets of Maplewood and stopping at one porch, then another, and then another to enjoy music and entertainment all day long. That’s Porchfest!

Enjoy this fun and free event  on Labor Day Sunday September 1, rain date Monday September 2, in the Hilton neighborhood, from 1-5pm. The event kicks off at noon in front of the Community Center at DeHart Park with a rehearsal for our “honk parade,” where everyone in the family is welcome to make music and march! Then it's on to the porches (also driveways and lawns) showcasing a wonderful variety of performers- some familiar and some new-all afternoon.

We hope you’ll be there!

More details will be posted here but for further info, etc check out the website

The interactive map/schedule is now up at the website!

There still might be a couple of tweaks but things are ready to roll. One week to go and counting!

For two years running we’ve had an amazing time at Maplewood’s Porchfest with a raucous street band jam –https://maplewoodporchfest.com/past/#

YOU’RE INVITED to join the Third Annual Honk Jam and Parade that will kick off Maplewood’s Third Annual Porchfest this coming Sunday September 1 ! (Rain date Monday September 2).

Please reply to tell me if you can come! (or even if you’re a maybe)

What’s a Honk band? Think of a New Orleans second line parade, polka in the park, dancing in the streets, and singing along with Mitch. There’s no reading music — you just learn a simple part, and blow it with joy alongside a bunch of fun neighbors and friends. You’ve never had so much fun with When the Saints Go Marching In and Down By the Riverside!

Join us Sunday Sept 1st at 12 noon! Bring your instrument — and grab your spouse, children, friends and neighbors along with something to blow, shaking, or smack. Rhythm instruments for kids will be available.

We’ll “rehearse” for 30 minutes — then hit the street and make the magic happen!

Private message me to join in!

Hope you're all having fun!

I was in the Honk Parade for the third year. Participating in Porch Fest is like being a tourist in your own town.  Thank you so much to everyone who makes it possible.

Porchfest was mentioned on WNYC this afternoon.

I was not able to attend (unfortunately), but I love how our fellow Maplewoodians come up with a great creative idea, and, in no time, it becomes a loved annual tradition!  One thing that's great about living in Maplewood!

Fantastic day - great turnout!  Thanks to all of the organizers for bringing this to town.

Looks like the Ithaca gets credit for the initial concept - I added our town link to the wiki page:
