[Edited to add] Link to old, hand-notated map showing the collection sections (I think it's the same information, just less fancy): https://www.twp.maplewood.nj.us/sites/maplewoodnj/files/uploads/scan_20150925_112831.pdf

Link to PDF you can print out and put on the refrigerator: https://www.twp.maplewood.nj.us/sites/maplewoodnj/files/pages/2019_leaf_collection_schedule.pdf

On the printed schedule, it adds: "Beginning the week of October 14th, leaf piles will be collected in all zones until regular collections begin on October 21st."

Every year leaf collection is stopped at least a month or 2 before all the leaves have fallen, someone really needs to better at their job.

Every year there is a Spring Rake Out which allows you to get rid of additional leaves. In Maplewood, falling leaves are never ending, I personally think the DPW does a good job.

I disagree,  whoever's  scheduling leaf pick up is not in sync with nature. Unfortunately I don't have the extra space on my property to store bags and bags of leaves until the spring and don't wish my property to look like its abandoned either. I have 4 huge trees that drop so perhaps my problem is unique.

Every year is different.

In terms of leaves falling, it depends on late summer to fall weather.  And probably type of tree.  and possibly the luck of the draw in terms of how late they get to you (and #climatechange).

Then there is snow and ice.

They plan to finish the leaves before the snow hits--or leaves in the street block storm drains and cause street and basement flooding.

And they need the crews free for snow and downed branch/tree removal when there is bad ice (and for whatever the rest of their jobs are).

And, yes, there is spring rake out, since some leaves fall late, and plenty blow around and land in folks yards and branches fall and etc.

They do the best they can and so do we.

In a pinch, a landscaper or such can come and haul 'em off in their truck.

Wow. This could explain why I haven't heard back on things from DPW since December.

 It wasn't personal.

At the above cited TC meeting, it was announced that the town will be advertising for a new DPW Director.  Does anyone know who will be acting in this capacity while the selection process is being carried out?
