Mailbox at Maplewood Train Station

Anyone know if the mailbox at Maplewood Train Station gets picked up (the blue mailbox).

Mailed a bill to a local contractor 2 weeks ago and still hasn't arrived...

I mailed a check from that box last week and it got there.

I've been using the ones in the Ricalton parking lot across from the Old Post Office with no problem....until about two weeks ago when I mailed our water bill in one of them. So far it hasn't been cashed so we paid it over the internet (with a $2 fee for that service).

At least, since our water company is American Water, we shouldn't have all the problems with overdue charges that have been such an issue for South Orange citizens with the East Orange water company.

I put a card in the mail on Monday to go to Boston and it got there yesterday.

It is definitely in operation.

I hope so, since I use it all the time too! (and am not aware of any issues arising)

The USPS picks up daily from all blue collection boxes. They may have their flaws, but that's set routine. Of course there are lapses, but these are rare and usually weather related. Mail getting lost once in the system is another story.

You can look up collection times here

The link does not show collection boxes.

Also note it shows Pathmark as selling stamp booklets.

I've seen them do the pickups, usually around noon, although the box says it happens at 11. It's one the few boxes that have pick ups before 5:00 PM.

I noticed the link doesn't keep the "Location Types" on the left. If you open that, you can make your choice. And Pathmark closed a little over a week ago. I suspect with the USPS's extremely tight budget, and huge number of locations nationwide, changing the name of 25 supermarkets, which still sell stamps, might not happen till the info is received.

If you look at collection times for Maplewood, almost all are 11AM. The collections are done moving North, as SO has Noon as its time, and WO is 1PM, etc.

I usually drop stuff in the box at mpo because there is a 5 pm pickup . Has that changed and I just didn't notice

I don't trust any of those old mail boxes for pick up, especially if I am mailing something important, I go directly to the new post office to mail stuff..
