Thank you I will try these

If you go to the Don Tre driving school web site, it has great practice tests. You do need to supply name and email, but I don't think anything came of providing that info.

Thank you I feel so stupid no matter how much I study I cant seem to pass the written test.

Don't feel bad. Most licensed NJ drivers would fail if they had to take the written test or even the road test again. Who parks 50 feet from a stop sign? Or considers a speed limit anything more than a non-binding suggestion? ;-)

Um, I do. Also 25' from a crosswalk (pet peeve because when people don't follow this one it forces pedestrians to come out from behind a parked car which is dangerous because of visibility to drivers). I think the only question on the test that I thought was stupid was the one about which months you are legally allowed to use studded snow tires, if they even still have that on the test that is.

Instead of a test prep, read and reread the manual, then reread it again. . If you can't remember the laws of the road for a test how will you be able to remember them when driving?

Hey, I may consider the speed limit a quaint suggestion, but I know enough to not say that to the DMV ;-)

My previous post may sound a little snarky, it wasn't meant to be. I just feel strongly about this because knowing the rules of the road will make you a safer driver, for yourself, for other drivers, and for pedestrians.

Don't feel bad, yoly1...the guy in the Newark testing center recognized my son!

Thank you everybody. I really need to pass.

If you cannot pass the DMV's driving test, what makes you think that you should be allowed to drive? There is already enough out there who should not be allowed to drive to begin with. Written test is not about the ability to drive but you must know the "rule of the road". You obey those or not is up to you of course but please at least make an effort to know it enough to pass your test. Good luck.

I don't think it's so much that yoly1 doesn't know the rules but may just freeze on tests. I was like that in school. Ask me anything in class and I had no problem, put that same question on a piece of paper and call it a test and it was all downhill!

For yoly1, just get plenty of rest and eat properly before you take the test again. Have friends and family ask you questions on the days leading up to the test and most importantly, relax! Good luck!

Don't let the lecturing people get to you. When I moved to NJ from NY I had to take the test and was caught completely off guard. I barely passed but I passed. You'll be fine.

Passed it on my 3rd try. You basically need to memorize the book. Best of Luck! question

I keep getting all the numbers in it confused. It would help if I could highlight the most important parts but they throw curve balls

I had a friend quiz me 150 questions did great but I get there and the questions seem confusing. Lol I don't know if its dmv or me.

Sounds like you get yourself so scared that you freeze when you are faced with the actual test. Maybe some exercises to relax ahead of time, deep breathing, or a very light sedative would help? Just for heaven's sake don't go in with beer or something more interesting on your breath!

If you don't have a friend around to help quiz you, you can always make up flash cards to test yourself, with the question on one side and answers on the other. Prepare, and find ways to help yourself relax and work around the test anxiety, and you will be fine. It sounds like you really do know the stuff by now, it's just a matter of making sure you can access that information while taking the test.

Hang in there. You'll be fine.

Thank you. Sounds about right, I had my permit once before took me 3 tries. Fear would most likely be the cause. But it is also the way they ask the questions I get confused. I also forget everything once I start filling in the answer. And I think I skipped 1 or 2.
I'm going to try the flash cards. It is a lot to remember

My son took the test in Wayne, where it is on a computer and you just have to answer a certain number of questions correctly--and you pick the questions. He was so relived since the first time he took it with paper and pencil and failed by one question.

It seems odd that if you take it in Wayne you get to pick the questions, but in Springfield you can't? Great tip though @nan

You can't take the test in Springfield. You have to go to Wayne or Newark.

Ahh. When we moved here from NY, shortly before the turn of the century, we took it in Springfield.

Yeah, I was VERY disappointed to find out it was no longer given there.

If you are on computer a lot, I suggest you go there to Wayne to take the test; using computer to test may relax you! Good luck!

Thank you all for the advice.
All are on computer now. I don't think anyone does paper and pencil anymore

That doesn't sound right.

How can you pick question? You look at it and if you don't know the answer you pick another one?
