New Superman movie trailer dropped 12/19/24

Oh man.

Chills.

“Krypto, take me home”. I’m not crying you're crying. Shut up.

Wow, I was always a Superman fan, in all his incarnations. However, I don't see the point in bringing him back in another lame-o, CGI-rich movie treatment. Not exactly an original idea. I think it's an insult to the film-going public that we won't respond to anything original.

In related news - the Christopher Reeve Story is now on Max - very well done:

Who are you? Lex Luthor? Brainiac? Granny Goodness?  Go darken someone else’s thread, thou cynic.  shock

Oh, go kneel before Zod or something.

I grew up on Superman comics and the whole DC universe of the 60's.

I haven't been an uncritical fan of all of the Superman movies though.

This looks very promising.

I watched the trailer a few times now. It has me very excited. What I observed is that it doesn’t offer a lot of plot details at this moment, mostly a lot of short action vignettes. It introduces a lot of the characters will be seeing, including my favorite: Krypto, the super dog (yes he has activated my inner 10-year-old). I am happy to see them going deeper into the DC character roster for this movie.

I don’t see how you can make a modern superhero movie without CGI right now. I think the problem that has happened in recent years is a number of movies have decided that enough CGI can mask poor storytelling. James Gunn, in my opinion, uses CGI to support strong storytelling rather than the other way around.

The thread title threw me, too.

I’m not sure if the cartoonist saw the trailer.
