Local Sports Bars

Bunny's has long been the primary sports bar in the area. Any suggestions for another good local spot, possiibly including WOrange or Irvington?

It tends to be unpopular on this site but there is The Gaslight!

I've tried it twice, and each time I got the distinct feeling of being unwelcome. I really wanted to like it -- a local craft brew place right by the train station! -- but I didn't need a third time to get the message.

It really is sad that it can't shake this reputation!  Great Burger!

Dank,

https://shillelaghclub.com/ in West Orange.  No pool table, so I don't hang out there often, but it was nice the few times I was there.

Liberty Tavern in Union.  Pool table and the food is surprising good. 7 or 8 TV's, games are always on, and a good jukebox.  Some might consider it a dive bar but I'm used to playing pool on the lower east side in NYC, so it's good to go.

Regards,

RCH

Liberty Tavern! What a blast from the past. Many years ago, when the Mets were about to clinch the pennant I met some fun wonderful guys (I may have been the only gal) at said Tavern where we celebrated that fact and ate some decent bar food if I recall. Good times. Haven't been back there but not much of a bar goer these days.

Pickett's has several TVs by the bar.

it earned that reputation.

I used to go there fairly often with one of their regulars. We'd be treated like royalty. Then I'd go back alone and be ignored. The difference was stark.

and IMHO their beer was lousy. Like the taps always needed cleaning.

Pickett's is a nice place. The bartenders are very friendly, and they always have a few games on in the evening.

The last time I was at the Lib was to watch the Mets clinch the 2015 Eastern Division. Is that when you were there?

Or were you talking 2006? grin

2015 and yes it was you and others you will likely remember. I don't think MOL existed in 2006 but in any event it was 2015.

MOL has been around since 1997.

Thanks. That makes sense. I know they were around and gave great support during 9/11. I many not have been a member then but soon thereafter I did; during the real cantankerous reval I believe.  Were you there as well? And perhaps Jerry Ryan?

I think I stumbled on here in 1999. I’m sure Jerry was here before me.

I was talking about the gathering at Liberty Tavern.

And here I was thinking 1986….

Cranford is a well kept secret around here…

Why do you say that?  Have they changed hands?

I witnessed some of their incredibly open and vicious racism in the day

Are you saying that’s been cleaned up or was it just not a problem for you?

Please don’t go to Cranford. I would hate to hear someone say that the people on MOL sent you there because it’s a hip, cool, vibrant little town.
