Local Family Needing Help

Here is the story for the link STANV posted.  Please read the story and donate to this family if you can.

Maplewood has lost a medical hero who gave his life caring for others on the front lines of the Covid-19 crisis.

Long-time Maplewood resident Paul Moise was a nurse who worked in a nursing home and at a hospital in New Jersey.

He passed away on April 12, leaving his wife and three children: an 8th grade daughter, a 3rd grade son, and a preschooler. The older children are students at Maplewood schools.

Paul will be buried in a small funeral on Monday April 27.

Paul's wife, also a nurse, is not able to work at this time, due to her high risk of contracting Covid-19 as well as her solo childcare responsibilities.

The family is very much in need of immediate support for funeral costs and living expenses at this time.

Please consider giving generously to the family of a true MapSo medical hero. They are deeply grateful to the support of the MapSo community.

This GoFundMe is organized by the Seth Boyden Elementary School PTA, Maplewood, NJ, a registered non-profit organization, EIN 91-1980716. The PTA will withdraw the funds raised by this GoFundMe and pass along 100% of the proceeds directly to the Moise family.

This is commendable and I agree that we should donate to those who risked their lives protecting us. Many times the word hero is overused, but here its appropriate.

The right thing to do is to reward those who are given. Similar to the financial rewards given to the families of the 9/11 victims. We have government bailout airlines, in the billions, but no government support for these true heroes? Its immoral.

If anyone knows the family, you might pass along this info about another possible source of funds. I would be willing to help with the application when it becomes available.

From Cigna: The family of these brave heroes will be eligible to receive up to $75,000 of grant funding through The Brave of Heart Fund to help with housing, food, transportation, education, and other living expenses.

I see the right thing will be done in the UK:

Families of front-line NHS and social care staff who die with coronavirus will receive a £60,000 compensation payment, the government has announced.

Here our support is in public applause and cheer. Not so great when there is a financial cost.

ps - I mean government support. Individuals can be and are very giving as can be seen in this fundraiser.
