Last week of voting - help South Orange Rescue get a $25,000 grant

I've been asked to cross post this in Maplewood Specific because we answer many calls in Maplewood.

This is the last (and most critical) week of voting so we need your help. The South Orange Rescue Squad is in the final round of obtaining a $25,000 grant as part of the State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant program.

4,000 causes from across the country submitted applications to State Farm for grants to improve their communities. The top 200 were selected for the final round, and of those, the top 40 will each get the grant. The top 40 is being decided by online votes via Facebook.

That is where you come in-- we need everyone to vote EVERY DAY through June 3rd (when the voting closes) by going to

http://tinyurl.com/SORS2015

or

http://southorangerescuesquad.org/vote

Please share this with as many people as possible and help make it go "viral". We need the support of the entire community voting EVERY DAY to stay in the top 40. (We are currently #18 but it changes by the hour).

This grant will go towards the rebuilding of our headquarters which is currently under construction. Our old building was torn down to make room for the 3rd and Valley development. the developer contributed funds to replace our old building but it is not enough to complete the project.

So please share the links http://tinyurl.com/SORS2015

or http://southorangerescuesquad.org/vote

and encourage everyone you know to vote daily though 11:59 pm on 6/3. Everybody gets 10 votes daily which can all be used at the same time. It only takes about 5 seconds per day!

Thank you,

Dan Cohen

Captain

South Orange Rescue Squad

6 days (and 8 hours, 10 minutes) to go and we've slipped to 19th place... thank you all for your support. Please keep voting!

Please vote - takes a few seconds and they are a great asset for our community.

Bump. Please take a few moments to support our local EMS volunteers help our citizens when in need of emergency health help.

This needs to stay on top of the board. Jamie, Dave, is there anyway to stick this at the top of the thread list?

We've slipped down to #23 with 4 days to go. Please vote every day through Tuesday!

I haven't missed a day of voting (2 times a day as I have hacked Rich's account as well) I recommend you do the same. South Orange Rescue squad needs your help and we need their help as well both in Maplewood and South Orange

Bump - remember to cast your 10 votes every day! It only takes a few seconds. http://tinyurl.com/SORS2015

Done. Back up a spot to #22.

Three more days of voting (it ends 11:59 pm Wednesday night) to go.

We dropped down to #31 last night and although we are slowly climbing back a bit... there is suddenly a real chance that we could lose this vital grant.

As annoying as it is to do this every day, please be sure that you vote today, tomorrow and Wednesday and encourage others to do the same.

Thank you!!

Down to #37. What the hell is going on??? VOTE VOTE VOTE (and then tell everyone you know to vote..they don't have to live in So Orange, just have a Faceook account)

Thank you LL_ yes, we are so close but suddenly expanding the base of voters has become very critical as we see this vital grant slipping away.

I will only bother you for 2 more days (after today) but PLEASE... spread the word and vote!

Voting ends tomorrow night at midnight and it really is coming down to the wire. Last night we were briefly bounced out of the top 40 and it has been fluctuating wildly as everyone goes for a last minute surge.

If you want to know why this grant is so vital to the community, please read this:

Your votes make a difference! Voting link: http://southorangerescuesquad.org/vote

Is there anyway to tell how many votes each group has? Like if we have 6,000 and the top vote getter has 6 million? It would help to know what # is needed to get to the next level.

Jamie, Is there a way that you can send out an email blast to all MOLers who've ever registered for an account regarding this push?

Would certainly be for a good cause and might bring back some of the people we've lost through the re-registration.

Unfortunately State Farm only releases the leaderboard, not the vote count. But by the way that we keep moving up and down the board... it is close.

That would be huge if it is possible. Tomorrow is the final day of voting and everyone will be making a big final push.

The email blast we did for sending out new passwords had some major delays (and it would be tricky to set up) - but will put something on top of the board shortly.

You rock. Now fix my goddamned IE issue.

Voted looked like you were currently in the 22 spot ... keep the votes going. Close it out strong.

Today is the last day to vote for the South Orange Rescue Squad. Went to sleep and they were #23, woke up to #30. Totally unacceptable!!

THEY ARE IN SERIOUS DANGER OF LOSING THIS $25,000

Thank you LL.

TODAY IS THE DAY... 16 hours to go and every vote counts. PLEASE email / text / call your friends and family (and share on Facebook)... spread the word and lets try and push this over the finish line. VOTE NOW: http://tinyurl.com/SORS2015

Voting ends at midnight tonight and I'll never pester you all again about it!

Thanks everybody.

Hey Maplewood! Still time to vote!

Just posted this in South Orange specific but I will put it here too:

Voting has closed and the leaderboard has gone away, but as of 3 to midnight, we were ranked # 9.

The top 40 causes each get a grant, so I think it's safe to say that we have won.

THANK YOU to this amazing community for all of your support.

4,000 causes applied. From there we were chosen to be in the top 200, and it was the community rallying around us that pushed us up to #9.

This grant will be put to extremely good use and we are very grateful to all of you for helping us obtain it.

And @jamie, thank you for this:

That was very helpful.

Dan

No. No, no, no. Thank YOU for being here to put it to excellent and valuable use. All I did was click.

Fantastic - I hope it was a help! I don't understand why it takes them 12 additional days to "Tally the votes" and announce the winners.

No, Dan, Thank YOU, for the extraordinary dedication you and the other volunteers make in this effort. So glad you were successful in getting some of this grant money. And you do a great job bringing high school students in to learn both serious skills and the importance of volunteering and giving back to the community. I'm also grateful the young man on the far right will stop asking me, "Did you vote today mom?" (I'd insert a smiley face if I could figure out how to.)
