Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen in Morristown---anyone been?

Just came across this on a blog post. Have never heard of it. Looks great for a special dinner. Anyone been? What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

You should totally go!! I'll admit that I'm a bit biased as I'm very good friends with the pastry chef, but we went for the tasting menu in the fine dining room and it was delicious - a good variety, interesting dishes, very well put together. There are a few different dining room options with different menus (I think it's one more bar-like, one more casual and then one fancier). It's a really interesting space, as well. Seriously, you should all go oh oh

We went there when they first opened . The service was not good but the food was good. Think they have gotten better with the service.

I've been there a few times now. My first experience was in the fine dining room (top floor). The food is really amazing and the cocktails are sublime . The catch is that the menu is a more expensive than other places in the area and you're only getting bites of food (so don't expect to leave stuffed), but it's well worth it for a special occasion.

But we've been back and eaten in the casual dining areas downstairs and enjoyed that even more. Our next stop will be the German Pub experience in the basement.

Double-date, anyone?

I haven't been but some of my beverage industry friends have said as good as the high end dining room is, they prefer the more casual areas, like the German pub, for comfort level, vibe, value. I haven't been yet but the industry buzz I heard was very good to really good but with significant enough kinks that needed to be worked out still.

We are trying the casual spot tomorrow for an anniversary lunch will report back.

We went for Valentine's Day. It was very good. Great cocktails, friendly service, good food. Definitely give it a try

Any updates, particularly for the non-Dining Room spaces (Rathskeller, Oyster Bar, Vail Bar) ?

Had dinner a couple of months ago in the main restaurant where it's prix fixe (and expensive).  Food was excellent and service was good, but too much of it (didn't stop me from eating it all, though).  It's expensive.  Note that apparently you can BYO wine (there's a corkage fee).  Just ate in the Oyster Bar last week and the food was also excellent (and many of the dishes that are served upstairs are available a la carte).

Really wanted to like it because it looks gorgeous and is reasonably close by.  Food was okay and service was lackluster.  Perhaps mostly start up issues when we went a year ago.  If enough folks tell me it's improved meaningfully I will certainly give is another chance.

We sat in the more casual ground floor area during winter and it was freezing to the point ladies next to us zipped up their outdoor winter coats while at their table.  Hopefully they've fixed that.  Can imagine the grounds would be amazing outside in warmer weather.
