HELP! New York Restaurant for Girl Teen Party - I MESSED UP

Okay, the party was supposed to be at Max Brenner's this Saturday but I waited too long to see what the head count is, and now it's completely booked! My initial look into alternatives like the Hard Rock hasn't been fruitful either, also booked! Any suggestions? THANK YOU!

No specifics recommendations but you could use Open Table to screen availability...

We like this place, not sure they have a private room if that is what you are looking for. For the right group, it could be fun: www.brasseriecognac.com (Broadway location). They are very nice and there are some light menu options.

Alice's Tea Cup (there are two locations); Serendipity. Here's a Yelp search that lists similar restaurants:http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=serendipity&find_loc=new+york%2C+ny&ns=1

These are great recommendations. I'd love others if anyone has some. Unfortunately I don't go out in NYC that often but I don't want to disappoint my daughter.

Cafe Lalu on the upper west side. A little crowded but a definite crowd-pleaser and a great selection of deserts.

But keep trying Max Brenner - they may have a cancellation

eta - It's the desert shop where Tom Hanks stood up Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail.

BB Kings used to do a Sat Beatles brunch and a Sunday Gospel brunch

How many people and what kind of food does she like? The View (revolving restaurant) has a fancy brunch that is really nice. A place like Churascaria Plataforma brazilian doesn't have the greatest food but my nephew used to love that place as a young teen because it was something different. Chat & Chew at Union Square is a great little diner kind of place he used to love also. And Chinatown might be really fun if they like Chinese food. If the idea is more around dessert- I agree with the Serendipity recommendation

Cowgirl in the West Village is fun. Think they have brunch on the weekends.

In connection with music theme restaurants like Hard Rock and B.B. Kings, how about VYNL:

I remember this place being fun a while back. . it might be worth checking out:

Big Daddy's Diner is a fun place too.

These are great suggestions! BUT I HAVE A FOLLOW UP -- years ago a friend took me to an amazing cheesecake restaurant someplace downtown, probably the Village. It was spacious, I think cafeteria style but I could be wrong. Plenty of seating. Anyone know that place?

My thinking now is dinner at one of the suggestions I'm getting then go down there for dessert.

Party is 12 people -- two adults, ten 16 year olds.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Oh -- one more thing I should add. My daughter is vegetarian (milk / eggs / fish okay) and so are about half the guests. So it can't be a meat-heavy place (as long as there's a few good non-meat options they'll be fine). THANK YOU AGAIN!

Was the cheesecake place Junior's in midtown? That is a fun place too.

If she is stuck on Max Brenner, there is one in NJ. If it's NYC, I wouldn't try to get to 2 locations with all of those people. Stick to one area. Never been, but Sugar Factory could be fun in Meatpacking District and similar to Max Brenners.

The Sugar Factory is awesome. I have been to the one in Vegas. Huge desserts like at Cheesecake Factory and super-fun drinks in huge glasses (of course, there's would be without alcohol!)

What part of town do you think you will be in? Other than a meal do you have an agenda for the day?

As the mother of 3 girls I know that these kids will be SUPER HAPPY to be anywhere in NYC if they appear to be un-escorted by parents.

Seriously, go to a museum or the High Line or the Village and then send the girls to find their own pizza, Chinese food or even Korean BBQ (in midtown) and they will be happy as clams!

At age 16 the days of "planned parties" have passed. It is all about empowering them to find their own fun at this point but having a few suggestions in your back pocket would be a good idea. Give them the challenge of researching and locating the "cool" place to eat on short notice grin

If you are anywhere near mid-town, what about the new Urban Space gourmet food court near Grand Central http://urbanspacevanderbilt.com/ or even the stalls at Bryant Park that were just put up last weekend?

The Lower East Side is also amazing for teens these days. (Sadly, the Yunnan BBQ place I wanted to recommend is actually closed for a private event this Saturday.)

Peacefood Cafe is a nice, sort of hip, vegan place on East 11th St. http://www.peacefoodcafe.com/ (great desserts). Big Daddy's in Gramercy is a kind of retro, kitschy diner-type place. (They have a veggie burger.) http://bigdaddysnyc.com/

Wise words - completely agree.
