Has anyone tried Mozzarella on Valley St.?

To anyone who has tried Mozzarella, the new pizzeria on Valley St. in South Orange: What did you think? How does it stack up to other pizza places in SOM?

I haven't actually had their pizza, but I think the place is great. It used to be La Vera which was in a different spot on Valley.

I haven't been there yet myself - but have heard positive things about it.

We went there a couple of Fridays ago. There was a lot to like, but some opportunities for improvement. I sensed that they were swamped and the service was a little wonky. Seemed frantic and it was a distraction.

Meatballs were good. Not great.

Meals were OK. The daughter said Margarita pizza was good.

We'll go back for another try.

Definitely a good addition.

We went the other night. We didn’t have pizza (although it looked good.)  We liked everything we ordered and will definitely be going back.  It was Tuesday and not crowded, so no service issues.

We were sad when La Vera closed, used to order from there fairly often. We found the food to be slightly elevated quality vs other run of the mill pizza / red sauce joints.  Happy to know Mozzarella is the same ownership. Their lasagna is a particular favorite of ours.

The only real drawback to the relocation is they sort of fancied the place up a bit and I honestly prefer the more expansive and basic menu that La Vera. But I probably err on the basic side in my food tastes anyway, and based on the number of people that I know that are Mozzarella fans that previously hadn't given La Vera a second look they probably made the right decision for the area. As a comparison, I'd say Pickets did the same sort of thing, but maybe went a tad too far in the fancy direction. Both are new enough though that we'll really have to see how they develop.

We went there a few weeks ago and liked it very much. (Didn't have pizza, though, so can't comment on that)  I had the chicken dorado, which was delicious, and my husband had spaghetti and meatballs, which he said was good, but nothing really special.  We liked the vibe of the place and the service was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be going back.

Had their vodka pasta twice, delicious! Their salads are good too.

Nice addition to the neighborhood.

Love their wild mushroom ravioli!
