Hand Sanitizer at MapleChec

MapleChec (Springfield & Indiana) has hand sanitiser. 125 ml (~4.25oz) $9

Don't know how much inventory.

Do good & stay well.

Is this a name brand or a home made concoction.  At least one store in the area made and sold their own with disastrous results.

The product is Protec, a trademarked name.

Manufactuer: Degasa S.A. de C.V. (The label is in Spanish, but it looks legit).

It's a real company but its web site advises that it has received reports that the company's name has, in some instances, been misappropriated.

I spread some on my forearm a couple of hours ago; and neither my forearm or index finger are showing any negative signs.

Do good & stay well.

Wow. Way overpriced.

I bought 20 eight oz. bottles at Aldi for 99 cents each a week ago. They were in a weird location, in the cash register lanes, opposite the cash register. Same ingredients as Purell, 70% alcohol.

 Such a bargain!

20 bottles - and I sit here wondering why there's a shortage, forcing retailers to buy at inflated prices, which, in turn, leads to customers complaining about the inflated prices - or not being able to find any.

5 quarts of hand sanitiser. Whew!

You'll be safe.

4 other people - they're just **** out of luck.

But on other hand - you're just hoarding. Hold your head high - you're not a profiteer - yet.

Such a bargain!

Do good.

P.s., The worst part is that you actually seem to be proud to have taken four quarts of a greatly desired commodity off the market.

I'll do ya one better. Daughter is a nurse and bought several gallon bottles of the stuff in October, BEFORE ANY OF THE cv-19 WAS KNOWN.

And guess what? She GAVE us a bottle and didn't even think to charge us $90.00.

I think that was smart on her part back in October.  Stocking up (even to levels most of us think are unnecessary) is fine in normal times, but in the current situation where it hurts others, it is just wrong.  And it's also silly.  Just wash your hands with soap and save the sanitizer (if you have any) for when you are out and about and can't wash your hands.

20 bottles.  Seriously?  Leave some for other people next time.

Actually, it was two weeks ago as of now.

I did mention to the guy behind me to grab some. He said something like "the president said nothing will happen, its a media lie." I now live in Ocean County which could explain the cavalier attitude and the many bottles available.

Every cashier lane had two or three displays of 12 bottles each. They were hardly touched. In my lane the two displays had 10 and 11. But now they are gone.

Two Sundays ago, around 9:00 a.m., I went to Target and Home Depot to pick up a few supplies. Target had a Purell display that was empty. When I got to the self checkout, the lady in front of me had her cart's upper bin filled with Purell (approximately 30-40 bottles). As I was scanning my items, she was constantly checking to make sure that either no one she knew saw her or to make sure none of the undeserving would swipe even one bottle of her Purell. Unfortunately, times like these bring out the best and worst in some people.

A former employee of my office ordered about 10 extra large bottles of hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and other things that are now in short supply. to be clear, these were ordered a long time ago, at least six months to a year. Some of my co-workers were joking that we could make a killing on the black market.

However as far as I know they are still in the supply cabinet waiting for all of us to return to work. I imagine one or two might have made their way into employee homes, but if so then shrug.

If it becomes necessary and "the authorities" are looking for hidden stashes, I'll definitely pass the info on. But I truly doubt we'll get to that point. Once we get back to work I imagine we'll still be keeping up the sanitizer regimen for a good while, and they'll come in handy then.

It's funny because if you're home with soap and water sanitizer is unnecessary. I guess for people who work in high contact areas like store cashiers and bank tellers it would be a valuable resource. They can't wash their hands after every customer.

These items are now in short supply in some area hospitals which are in dire need of them.  It is up to you whether you want to pass the information on to a hospital in need or pass the information on to someone in authority in your firm who could do so.
