Green Way opening on Saturday (Kings spot)!

I’m ridiculously giddy about this.  Peered in and it looks great.

I'm glad they turned it over so quickly. Nothing like a huge storefront staying empty for a long time.

Kudos to all involved who made it happen.

The store is great!   Beautiful.  Seems like more shelving than Kings.  Lots of free food and giveaways in the street today.

Looks great - free food was well set up also!

Blocking off Maplewood Avenue at Durand was a bit awkward.  Only option coming down from Durand was to go left on Maplewood Avenue - though some people were going into the lot the wrong way.

I would normally not be one to get excited about a grocery store but I went there this morning for a few items and the new space is really an amazing transformation MUCH for the better.

We were there yesterday, and I agree.

That being said, how many people tried to go in through the out door, since they're switched from their purposes in the old store?

Stopped in this morning for a few items. The produce was beautiful.

I went in briefly yesterday to get a physical key card and agree the layout looks great as well as the produce display. However one of the items I would generally get like a bag of Romaine hearts was quite a bit more than Shoprite or Trader Joe's prices, which are about 2.79 or so. I know this cause I didn't see a price label on the shelf for them and asked a cashier to scan it. He said $4.99. I then saw the owner/manager chatting with someone at the deli and told him the scanned price. He said that was wrong and it should be 3.99, which of course is still substantially higher than my regular go to stores. But I still plan on supporting them and buying things there.

Check out the fresh, wild mushroom section. It is on the right hand wall, as you walk in.

Chicken-of-the Woods, Chanterelle, Forest Trumpets, Shitake and two I don't know the names of. I hope they have Morels in spring.

I left a few for yiz.  I spent three hours yesterday, saw-taaing  and freezing them. (Sorry on spell check failure)

I was a little disappointed with the tagging. Hard to find out some of the prices.

 True. That needs some work.

My feeling is that I will support this place no matter what.  I can find everything I want there and it would be devastating if it failed.   it’s so great to have a supermarket back in town.

I'm back to my Kings habit.  Stop in almost every day on my walk and pick up 2-3 items.

grin

great place, good layout, easy to find things

King’s was mostly overpriced vs other supermarkets but when we needed something, the convenience factor made shopping there worthwhile. I have the same philosophy with Green Way.  The bunch of months without a market in town were frustrating, especially when we just needed one or two items. For this reason alone I am going out of my way to shop at GW as much as possible. Never want the village without a market again!

Just got a note from an old college pal. Turns out his BIL owns the new Market. Nice to know it’s a family business plus my old pal is a heck of a guy and he says his BIL is a mensch too. More reasons to support.
