FBI raids Mar-A-Lago

On that topic, what's the deal with the Trump team recommending Dearie? He seems normal and professional so far. Is the Trump team so incompetent that they're even bad at being bad?

They’re running out of stooges.

Yes, two of the three on the 11th Cir. panel were his appointees.

They probably read his page on the Wikipedia (Reagan US Attorney and court appointee) and thought they had a fellow traveler.

Raymond Dearie - Wikipedia

That's probably the extent of their "research".

They forgot to read and see that he's a former prosecutor (and, in my limited experience with him, a very good jurist).

This only counts if the court gave a merciless beat down on Cannon's opinion.

It did.

She seems incompetent, in Trump's pocket or both. Being in his pocket does not imply corruption. She may just be another starry eyed MAGA acolyte, stupid. It doesn't bode well.

Unfortunately, she can only be removed by senate conviction. Never happen.

I suspect that she is a total MAGAt and saw this as a stepping stone to the Circuit should he or one of his acolytes become POTUS.

Very Stable Genius.

Weird - I don't see anything regarding the T**** revelations on th Fox homepage:

https://www.foxnews.com/

Looks like Kerry and Hunter have a higher precedence in their world.

Kerry needs to lay off the face procedures.

They just replaced it with what they probably think is a more flattering picture.

Justice Dept. Is Said to Believe Trump Has More Documents (NYT)

There's something seriously wrong with that man.

(ORDER LIST: 598 U.S.)

TRUMP, DONALD J. V. UNITED STATES

The application to vacate the stay entered by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit on September 21, 2022, presented to Justice Thomas and by him referred to the Court is denied.

That's the Supreme Court response, in full.

Maybe they're getting sick of his whiny appeals. The SC exists to resolve critical constitutional issues. They take only about 80 cases a year. They're not there to spend their whole year dealing with Trump's issues.

The DOJ is petitioning the court to get rid of the special master, basically claiming that Judge Cannon's opinion on the matter is full of crap.

She is, but it will be moot by the time the appeal is argued.

Maybe not. They seem to be fast tracking this stuff.

Appeals Court Scraps Special Master Review in Trump Documents Case (NYT)

WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court on Thursday removed a major obstacle to the criminal investigation into former President Donald J. Trump’s hoarding of government documents, ending an outside review of thousands of records the F.B.I. seized from his home and freeing the Justice Department to use them in its inquiry.

In a unanimous but unsigned 21-page ruling, a three-member panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit in Atlanta shut down a lawsuit brought by Mr. Trump that has, for nearly three months, slowed the inquiry into whether he illegally kept national security records at his Mar-a-Lago residence and obstructed the government’s efforts to retrieve them.

The appeals court was sharply critical of the decision in September by Judge Aileen M. Cannon, a Trump appointee who sits in the Southern District of Florida, to intervene in the case. The court said Judge Cannon never had legitimate jurisdiction to order the review or bar investigators from using the files, and that there was no justification for treating Mr. Trump differently from any other target of a search warrant.

If only there was Federal Traffic Court so Judge Cannon could be shunted there.

She was clearly applying for elevation should there be a second Trump term.

So, it was not technically moot, but yesterday was the day final submissions were to be made to the Special Master.  Glad that they ruled as quickly and strongly as they did.

Why its important for the Democrats to hold the senate.

And the White House.

Screw the Republicans. McConnell likes to play games? I suggest Democrats do one better.

If a Republican gets into the WH and the senate is controlled by Democrats then don't pass any nominations recommended by or who belong or have any past association with the Federalist society.

I don't care if there are 2, 3, 4,  or 5 SC vacancies or other vacancies. If the Federal Judiciary gets bogged down by vacancies, then so be it. Its better than getting stuck with lifetime toxic jurists from that society.
