Falling tree kills woman in Millburn

Just horrible! I drive that way frequently myself, enjoying the expanse of nature it offers. I'll never drive through it again without thinking of her. So sad...

Terrible! I feel so incredibly sad for the family/children.

I only recall one time got caught hiking in the reservation in a major storm, and there were falling trees all over; we took cover were we were actually protected by prior HUGE fallen trees, but it was really scary. I really never thought about on a normal day, driving through this could happen. I will hope there is a follow up on this story.

A guy I went to high school with was killed by a tree while driving in Watchung Reservation during the Snowtober Storm. He had a 3 month old baby at the time. It was terrible. I always said I wouldn't drive in a wooded area during a storm if I could help it, but this poor woman was driving on a clear morning. Her poor family.

This is so sad. A number of years ago, a co-worker's wife was killed by a falling tree while the whole family was out walking in a park. Their young children saw the whole thing. The husband, who had been a cheerful person to work with, aquired a sad devastated look, and he floundered while trying to care for the kids on his own.

A tree can appear healthy on the outside, even sprouting leaves, but is literally rotten and hollow on the inside.

I saw it on the news last night. So tragic.

I wonder if it was diaturbed by the work going on.

I'm surprised they're planting so many trees close to the roads. Hopefully they are smaller varieties that won't create big problems in the future.

where was that? Brookside?

"about a quarter of a mile south of Brookside Drive's intersection with South Orange Avenue."
