External wood siding repair

parts of the wood on my Tudor exterior are a bit rotted by the ground. I'd like to clear out any possible termites and fill in the rotted space with that wood foam stuff.  Any reccos for a good purveyor of this service.  Quality and price being both important.  Thanks!

Any idea what wood foam stuff you are referring to? Never heard of that type of product to be used in that type of situation.

I was told this foam like product could be used in these cases. What would you do

Repairing/replacing the wood on a Tudor is a tricky proposition. The wood shrinks a bit over time and moisture can wick in between the wood and cement plaster. The only foam I ever heard of was the spray type for insulating which is not appropriate for exterior exposure.I would consider replacing the wood with Azec, which will not deteriorate over time. Its very hard to detail where the wood/plaster meet, caulking just doesn't do the trick and the last thing you want is for your sheathing to take a hit. That would border on catastrophic.Search old posts. Pretty sure this came up before.

It's not the wood that needs replacing merely the area right off the ground which has rotted a bit.  The termite guy says they fill in rotted wood with this foam stuff that can be painted over and snakes.

Having a hard time visualizing. Sorry. Can't imagine what wood could be in contact with ground. Would love to hear your resolution.

When quality and price are both important, that generally points to doing it yourself.

Low price, high quality, and quick - pick 2.

If you don't know what you are doing, and want it done right, then you generally have to resign yourself to paying more than you'd like - especially around here...

The nearest I can think of is some kind of epoxy repair, that basically encases the rotted wood in resin.  Abatron has several products.

I would repair that with epoxy.

I agree, something like that can be fixed with Bondo,a 2 part auto body filler. The OP referenced wood rot near the ground which could present a different set of circumstances.

Sorry, didn't know how to explain it in something even close to technical terms oh oh  please forgive a newbie

No prob. Buy some bondo. Easy DIY.It cures quick so don't mix too much at a time.
