Don't Miss This Year's Turnover Sale!

Morrow Church's Turnover Sale, now in its 82nd year, has become a legendary annual event in Maplewood! Known as the “Miracle on Baker Street,” the sale is sponsored each year by the United Methodist Women. It takes up two full floors of the church building, transforming Morrow Church into a full-fledged department store of gently loved treasures. We also erect a massive outdoor tent that adds even more sale space!

This year's sale, located at 600 Ridgewood Road in Maplewood, begins on Thursday, July 2, and ends on Tuesday, July 21. See our flyer for more sale dates and donation guidelines!

After more than 80 years in business, we have built a fine reputation and a clientele as varied as our merchandise. On opening day, the waiting lines often reach to Maplewood Avenue and beyond! Our loyal customers come from towns near and far, often developing special relationships with our volunteer salespeople. We may not see a customer for the entire year in between sales, but come July, we fully expect to renew the friendship that has grown over the years.

The revenue we earn through the Turnover Sale is used to fund vital mission projects and charitable works, both locally and globally. As a result of our collaborative efforts and dedicated volunteers–-affectionately known as our “Miracle Workers”–-we share fellowship, outreach, and fun. See you at this year's sale!

For more information, visit our website at http://morrowchurch.org/turnover/

Every year I hope that our net volume of donations will exceed our net volume of purchases, leaving us more space in our house then when we began.

This may be the year! (Fingers crossed)

@mrincredible - We hope for the same thing. I actually donated something last year that we purchased at an earlier Turnover Sale. I count that as progressgrin

Agreed.

Now if you buy something you once donated, then you may have a problem.

The point is there are always lots of good things on sale there. And it's a tremendous labor of love on the part of a lot of people.

I am donating a lot of clothes to the Morrow Turnover Sale this year. Including: various pairs of pumps and dress shoes in great condition that no longer fit me (they are all a few years old but mainly classic styles). Shoe size 8 to 8/2 some narrow. A gold knee length dressy dress size 10 and matching shoes size 8. Various pieces from: Chicos, Dress Barn and others. Will post more as I continue to clean out my closets.

Meow,

Tabby

I think drop off begins today, right? Hope so - I have LOTS of things to donate this year - looking forward to the PURGE!

OK. I'm loading on up. 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-Blastoff!

Last year there was talk of having easy access to tax receipts to make it easier for donations. Any chance that can happen again, so folks don't have to go to the office? Prospect has a little envelope out which I think is really convenient

I will be donating again, hopefully next weekend. Can't wait to clean a bunch of stuff out so I can buy a bunch more at the Turnover Sale!

To all of my Turnover fans-Frank and I will NOT be at the fabulous
Junque" table this year-We moved to the shore and I have a summer job on the beach in Point Pleasant-so, have fun and spend, spend, spend!!!! The money will be used for wonderful things for those in need!!! xoxoxoxo, b

Nm. Just took a closer look at the flyer.

Does anyone know if Morrow accepts bed pillows? I have two standard pillows that came "for free" with some other purchase years ago, and we've only used them a scant handful of times for guests, so they're in good shape. They're just not exactly the best quality pillows - sort of like those airline pillows but in standard rather than lunchbox size. If Morrow can't use them, do you think Furry Hearts could use them?

Does anyone know whether the tax slips are available yet? We have some bags to drop off but would like to grab a slip when we do.

Today I dropped off some things and forgot to ask about the tax slip. When I got home, I called the church office and the woman who answered emailed it to me straightaway.

When I dropped some items off last week, the tax slips were on a small table as you went in to the building (by Fellowship Hall, where the books and furniture are this year).

Thank you!! That's great to know.

Hard to imagine a Turnover Sale without bgs, but, having a beach job!! Have a great summer, dear one.

awesome thing to think about. If you experience buyer's regret over anything you purchase at the turnover sale, you can always bring it to donate to the Prospect Presbyterian church rummage sale.

OK ... well, that's one way to look at it.

Morrow also donates some of the "best stuff" of their unsold items at the end to Prospect. And both sales not only donate nearly all of the funds to charity and mission (much of it very local) but also donate unsold items to homeless shelters and other social service organizations that get the items to people who need and use them.

Such a win-win for everyone!

Will they pick up large items?

Tonight! Tonight! Tonight! I can't wait! :-D

I was so bummed last night to know you all were there and we were not.........................the upside is that I am at the magnificent Jersey shore bright and early

Downside: It was so crowded and full of the buyer/re-sellers and there was scamming and ripping-off going on and the volunteers were getting frustrated, and it was a bit depressing for me to witness people trying to steal from the church. For example, in the kid's dept, a volunteer had an issue with a woman bringing in a plastic garbage bag and saying it was a bag full. After they dealt with that, the volunteer noticed a pair of sneakers in the woman's purse. One woman was asked to leave in the woman's clothing dept due to shady practices. Also, it was sooo crowded it was hard to look at anything or move.

Upside: The turnout was amazing. So good for the church! I hope they exceed expectations this year! YAY! Morrow has always been good to our community, and I wish great things for them!

There is ALWAYS a struggle in the kids' department with people way overstuffing their bags. The woman who works in there handles it so well, but it's just ridiculous. Yes, $25 on the first day may seem like a lot but you're able to fit a lot of tiny clothes in a shopping bag. I did!! I'm very pleased with the value of what I got.

I only bought a 1/2 bag for $12.50 and was happy with it. The kids department is the 1st place I go every time I go, and it's always a struggle, yes, but this was waaaaay over the top. The scammers were in force and blatant. I could see it was very frustrating.

I am volunteering in Shoes and Bags. It was thrilling to see someone excitedly buy never used shoes that I had donated. Most shoppers are lovely and a genuine pleasure to serve.

But there were two women who tried to steal a bunch of bags by stuffing smaller purses into a larger one. They were priced at $2 a piece. Imagine scamming a church to save $6.

Can you still make donations or did we miss it

Re:bags, who provides the bags, the sale or the buyer? At the VNA sale, they do a bag sale but have 3 tiers... Paper grocery bag, price $x, white kitchen trash bag = price y, and large black trash bag = price z. They provide the bags , and it is amazing how creative people get when filling it. Then again, the bag sale is only on the last day, and they only let a certain number of people in, per half hour.

In the children's room, there are bags provided.
