Did you get your mail-in ballot?

We haven't received ours yet. I think we should be soon. I thought it might be helpful if we shared when we receive them. That way if there's a delay for some people they'll know to make a call.

This thread is intended to be apolitical. Just informational about the status of ballots please.

From a Maplewood Township email:

All registered voters will be sent a vote-by-mail ballot. Ballots will be mailed beginning September 28th.

Cool. I'll bump this thread starting in a week then!

The Day of Atonement is an apt day for mailing ballots for this election.

I received mine today! Ocean County.

My brother in Union County sent out a picture today of him dropping his ballot in a collection box. Westfield I think.

Union County announced different
dates when ballots are being mailed to specific towns, and also that every town will have at least one ballot drop box.

We received ours a few days ago, Hunterdon County.

I am going to drive to some republican town to drop mine off. If I were a trumpy I'd sabotage the boxes in the People's Republic of Maplewood. wish I were kidding.

All the boxes have to have 24/7 video surveillance.

So what? Video doesn't prevent shoplifting, NY subway crime or crime in commercial NYC areas. Mostly feel good.

Said that, I really don't expect any vandalizing of the boxes.

I will be using the postal system to return my ballot because its convenient. If they can handle mailing me the ballots, I'm sure they're capable of handling their return. Besides, they process over a billion pieces of mail Christmas week so 200 - 250 million ballots over several weeks should be very doable.

I am just about to attend a webinar entitled Extremism and the Election.  It starts at noon.  I will report back if recommendation is made to avoid the drop boxes due to potential for vandalism.  For now, I think the drop box is the quickest and safest way to get the ballot returned.

Essex County waiting too long to mail out the freaking ballots.

I agree with you. Given the concerns about the timeliness of mail-in ballots, every day is critical. It's a little weird that the third largest county (by population) is at least a week behind.

During my walk yesterday, I noticed that our drop box is already in place in front of the police station and I have gotten mail for four days straight, a six month record.  That is two out of three.  Now we just have to get our ballots.

I believe they are to be mailed out September 28th.

They are to be mailed out to Essex County voters beginning on September 28th.  Some may be sent out later.

You have to drop it in a box located in the same county in which you are registered to vote.  If you live in Maplewood, you can't drop it in a Sussex County drop box.

That would make sense. Would we expect Sussex County officials to drive to Salem County to drop off a couple of ballots that were put in Sussex County drop boxes?

My USPS Informed Delivery says I should receive mine today in West Orange.

Thank you so much for the heads up.   I just checked my Informed Delivery email for today.  I am supposed to be receiving my ballot today as well (Maplewood).  Great news if it actually arrives as scheduled.

The Informed Directory email states that the following mail is coming to you soon.  It does not promise that the items listed in the email will arrive that day. My mail for today just arrived.  The other pieces listed in the Informed Delivery email were present.  The mail in ballot was not.  I reported it as not received.

Hello- we get the  email form USPS (Informed Delivery) that tells us what we are getting in the mail each day. It says we are getting our ballots today. Now the problem is 3 days a week we don't get mail till 8:00pm or we don't get it at all. So will see  tonight at 8:00pm , Which is unacceptable getting mail at 8:00pm

I normally get my mail after I go to bed. Find it the next morning.  Today I got my mail mid afternoon.  Moot for this discussion since the ballot was not included in today's mail.

Here’s the list of drop boxes for Essex County. West orange has 2 locations.
