Did the flight patterns over Maplewood change?

The planes seem a lot noisier tonight. The second to last fly-over woke our son up.

I heard an extremely loud plane-ish noise as well. I was afraid something was about to crash!

I heard a loud one last night about 10.  Really low rumble.

I also had this concern.

Otherwise, flight patterns seemed within normal variations.

Yes, I heard it too, sounded like a very low flying helicopter, pretty scary, thought he might be making an emergency landing on my street!

are they monitoring the deer count in the rez? sounded like choppers to me.

deer counting at night?  I guess with infrared equipment?

but, didn't sound like a chopper to me.  it was low rumbling that got closer, shook the house as it went over head, and then rumbled on towards Newark.

That was my guess...infrared deer counting at night, in preparation for the yearly hunt.  I believe we have this discussion every year or so.

It sounded like a helicopter to me. We're on the hill between North Ridgewood and Wyoming.

We're on the same hill...that makes sense. Glad it wasn't EWR, that ***** was LOUD.

Sounded like a helicopter to us on Dunnell.

they always make me nervous. maybe too long covering breaking news stories with cop copters overhead.

Huge Sikorsky over my house last night (Ridgewood and Walton). Passed low and fast. Low enough that I think I could have hit it with a rock. Trump maybe? lol!

Heard that low helicopter too, did not see any heads up about deer count but a deer hunt is coming up starting this Tuesday.

This year's county deer management program will be conducted for six days in South Mountain Reservation on Tuesday afternoons, Jan 19 and 26, and Feb. 2, and Thursdays, Jan. 21 and 28, and Feb. 4, according to a Jan. 12 press release.
The controlled hunt also will be conducted in Hilltop Reservation for seven days in February and March. The program will not be held in Eagle Rock Reservation this year, the release said.

It sounded like a plane to me.  Louder and louder, I was thinking it was going to crash.

Last night, all night, plane after plane after plane. I was having trouble sleeping, as if you couldn't tell...  LOL

"Infrared Deer." New band name, I claim it!

here is the link t webtrak that monitors flights, flight paths and noise controls

there is a note indicating that several runways are getting closed during late hours for maintenance

http://webtrak5.bksv.com/panynj4

interesting there are no noise monitoring stations in our general area

we used to live in Jackson Heights, where the flights would switch every weekend to be over our apartment. I don't hear any noise here at all because I grew so accustomed to the noise for so many years.

It's funny because i didn't hear it the past two nights, and I don't think it's because I slept better. More likely the closure of the runways is the reason.
