EWR probably has tests. I flew out of PDX a couple of days ago and they had a place there where you could get tested on the spot.
There are special versions of home tests (e.g. Binax Now) that are for this purpose (and much more costly than a typical home test.) They include a video consult/supervision with a medical professional and provide an official result that is accepted. I believe that United Airlines has now partnered with a provider for this, but not sure about other airlines. And, as someone mentioned, many airports also have testing available.

If it's United, yes you download an app called Navica, which links to Abbott, and you can use your BINAX Now tests for re-entry to the US. Last time I went to the UK (last month), I didn't need to be tested to go there, but had to bring a couple of tests to do the online (they call it Proctored) tests so I could fly home. THey do have them at airports now, but I don't know how much they cost.
Walgreens in Newark (on Irvington Ave) does the NAAT which is the “Rapid PCR.”

Thanks! We're scheduled to go to Ireland in July, so this is good info to have! (If they don't change the rules before then.)
Friends visiting Ireland last month used the online supervised test through IHealth to return to the US. (they brought extra test kits along with them)

I got a PCR test at CVS in Union and had results within 24 hours. Their guidance was 1-2 days for results.
Anybody have any suggestions on where I can get a rapid Covid Test? Required for upcoming travel. The PCR test at Kmart takes 1-2 days and the process to travel to this country requires upload of docs in advance for approval so need a rapid test to give myself time for processing (at home test not accepted- must be lab processed). CVS does not have any appts on the day I need it and Walgreens does not do rapid test locally. TIA
