Commuting to Jersey City

Hello all,

My office is moving to 111 Town Square Place in Jersey City in 2 weeks. I am looking at commuting options....fortunately we only go in to our office 3 days per week. Due to health issues, taking train and PATH is not possible right now...so far parking at Liberty State Park and taking Hudson-Bergen Light rail seems ok and not expensive....however is there a toll on 78/Turnpike for Liberty State Park?  Tks.

Curious why train and PATH are no good but the light rail is OK?

Edited to add that yes, there is a toll on 78. EZPass rate is $3.08 each direction at peak times.

There’s parking in and around Newport mall. Why park at liberty center then take the light rail? Take the exit for Montgomery street off the highway, to Washington Blvd. Either way the traffic will be bad.

I did this commute for a few years using the light rail.

It was a miserable journey.

Due to neuropathy in feet I am not comfortable with getting on/off a regular train.  Yes I could drive and park close by to office but the traffic will be brutal and parking is expensive. We will be getting a stipend for it but it does not cover all of it.

Today my husband and I drove to Harrison and took the PATH to Newport.  I used a cane for balance and was able to get on/off the train without any issues.  Parking was very close to the new station and not expensive.  All the stations have elevators .  I may drive up to the new office on the first day to take stuff but plan to take PATH as much as I can. The Newport station is right accross the street from my new building.

As you can imagine, traffic is a nightmare. I did it for 6 years.

Three choices: 78 to Turnpike's Newark Bay Extension. That one is the best, except when it isn't. One accident, anywhere near Turnpike's exit 14 and you've lost an hour.

Or

78 to Rt 1 Pulaski Skyway. Get off at Rt 1 and turn right by White Manna and go over the hill.

or Straight down Springfield Ave to Newark and get on Rt 1.

In either case, turn on 101.5 and Sirius/xm traffic report before you decide each morning.

that new station at Harrison is great. I’m glad you found a better way than driving to Newport.
