South Orange Pool, on the other hand, is closed for the season. Apparently they sustained some bad flooding damage.

St James Gate reopened today. I was just talking to one of the employees.

That HD flooded badly after Sandy. I thought it would be even worse this time. Maybe they've improved the drainage in that area.

Just found out that Ida demolished one of our favorite restaurants -- Thai House in Millburn.  The owner has started a GoFundMe:  https://www.gofundme.com/f/3vngq6-family-business-destroyed-by-hurricane-ida

Home Depot open yet?

I checked - it's still closed - was hoping to check on something at the storage place also - that didn't seem accessible as well.

All the entrances to the Hone Depot parking lot are closed off. They have a bunch of their inventory in the lot. Lots of cars. Presumably some are employees, but others have an "X" in blue tape on the windshield. Maybe they're cars that were flooded.

Yes Union is dropping abandoned cars in the parking lot,

You can get into the storage place if you go to the driveway just before the rehab place - there will be a car parked half across the road, just tell the person in the car you're going to the storage and they'll let you by.  I spent large parts of the past four days there cleaning up my bin.

St James Gate is back to full menu.

I needed something from HD today, but it was still closed, so I went to Lowes in Union.  Lowes is fine, but HD is SO close and I hope it reopens soon.

This is the second major flood event at HD (last time was Sandy).

They will have insurance issues if they want to remain in that location.

According to the Google-sphere, the Vauxhall location is Home Depot's largest store at 217,000 square feet. For comparison, their average store is 105,000 sq. ft.

I would figure Home Depot would have all of the materials right there and plenty of people working on it to figure out some way to address the flooding issues.

Hurricane Floyd really wiped them out. After that storm they installed the sluices in front of the doors. I’m not sure if they actually used them this time around. That was supposed to keep water out up to about 3 feet.

Here's some videos I found online of the Home Depot in Vauxhall during the flood event.  Love the security guy in the second video, sitting on a counter with his feet on a floating microwave or something.

Note:  I didn't take the videos, just found them while wandering the webz.

 are those shoppers in there?

Looks like employees. Familiar faces. Imagine that was even before the store closes at 9 pm. They had to be rescued. Their cars are all totaled. This is worse than Floyd. Far worse, imagine waist deep water around 10 pm! What happened afterwards has to be catastrophic. That store lost everything that was on the floor and lower shelves.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. That’s unbelievable, but that area has always flooded. I remember when my sister was getting married in 1977, the area was impassable for days.

I wonder why the storage place didn't flood during Sandy but it did this time?  My things have been there for 10 years now and this is the first time it's been even damp.

Sandy was less of a rain event. And more of a storm surge which affected the shore towns more. There was just too much water. That area is a flood zone, I remember when the flea market was there it used to flood.

Wow, your sister's wedding must have been really well attended!

Btw: Saturday morning. Home Depot still closed.

In light of the Home Depot closing, any thoughts on nearby non-chain landscaping supply places for things like mulch and stones?
