Burnham Boiler Reviews? (Answered - Thanks!)

Does anyone have any pros/cons with regard to a Burnham Boiler (gas fired hot water baseboard heating)? I've read numerous online reviews not recommending them because of cracked blocks, but these seem to stem from boilers installed circa 2001. Does anyone have more recent experiences to offer? Many thanks.

Not sure about hot water, but for steam, I think Burnham is considered a top quality brand. Have had one for 9 years, no issues.

We are having a Burnham steam boiler installed on Tuesday. I also read online about their problem with cracked blocks. Like you noted, it was a long time go. We were given the option of a Burham or a Peerless unit. We chose Burnham because it appeared from reading the online reviews that their customer service is very good. If our plumber were to recommend one over the other (he did not) I'd trust his professional opinion.

Thank you both. This HVAC company has been around here 30 years, and has installed thousands of these boilers over the years (my development is huge, and all the houses have the same heating, so when someone needs a replacement, they know exactly what they need to do). It is the only brand they use, so it sounds like they're confident in the brand.

Well, upon further research and investigation, the company that would have installed the Bunham boiler turned out to be a little shady. Plus it turns out I had a Bunham boiler in my house (the original boiler when the house was built) and it was totally shot on the inside! Long story short, I went with another company that installs Carrier boilers -- they're made better (no aluminum inside like the Bunhams) and have a much longer warranty (20 years). Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

I have a Biasi hot water boiler for hot water baseboard. Made in Italy. Lifetime warranty on boiler block. Works great. Reasonable cost. Imported and distributed by QHT Inc. in Massachusetts. Ask for a quote on one. Maplewood Plumbing Supply can get them. Whatever you get, be sure to have your heating contractor do a thorough calculation (manual J or similar) to properly size the unit so it is not oversized. If they don't know how to do that, get a contractor thatdoes. Make sure the controls include an Outdoor Reset which automatically adjusts the boiler temperature (hot water) depending on the outside temperature. If they sayyou don't need one, get a new contractor

Thank you for this. Never heard of Biasi and I hope yours does last a long lifetime! However, I don't live in the MAPSO area any more, and the work was already done yesterday.
