Burger Pix!

This thread is for posting photos of hamburgers: your own or somebody else's, terrific-looking or disgusting, perfect, plain, bizzare, bodacious, lean, greasy, all-beef or mystery-meat, on the grill or on a plate, in or out of focus... Perhaps accompanied by a recipe, a mythic tale of its heroic prep, directions to where we can get more like it... or not...

My default burger in Hong Kong

I had an outrageous craving for Hostess creme-filled cupcakes yesterday. I walked to the aisle where they're located, and decided to move on.

I would have eaten all eight in the box.

When did you change your avatar?

I think you must have needed a sixth.

It was a couple of weeks ago, in response to a "Cease & Desist" letter from James Cameron's legal representatives, the law firm of Leibach & Wackett. I was going to revert to my old avatar (the Steeplechase Park guy), but instead went with the Hostess Creme-Filled Cupcake in response to Monster's "anyone been to the Hostess outlet in Carlstadt or Trenton?" thread; I kept it because sharon said she "wanted me"...

BTW, I tried cherryblossom's "5-napkin" burger a couple of summers ago, when I first ate lunch at its original home, Nice Matin, in my old nabe (79th & Amsterdam). It's a yummer.

I also LOVE the burger served at another of my old haunts (from my long-ago Village days), The Corner Bistro:

deiscane - omg it was THE BEST BURGER EVER.

this one from stony's was AMAZING though too. i love that place! also i love this thread!

I've posted before about our old days on the UWS, and how we loved The Burger Joint (owned by the famous Big Nick, operator of The Pizza Joint next door), now renamed Big Nick's Burger Joint to avoid any confusion with other erzatz Joints in town...

Mmmmmmm Shake Shack. Loves me a Shake Shack "Shack Stack" (though their fries are only so-so. 5 Guys fries are better).

Here's Burger King's new A-1 Steakhouse XT Boigah, and the contraption from which it emerges:

Personally, I'm just bummed that they're raising the price on their double cheeseburger...

In the 80s, McDonald's had an ill-fated burger called the Cheddar Melt. It was a 1/4 pound patty with cheddar cheese sauce and grilled onions on a rye bun. It was absolutely delicious and to this day I mourn its discontinuance.

    This thread is awesome.

If you folks haven't already seen it, I recommend the very charming documentary Hamburger America. Mrs. 37 and I drove to Meriden, CT after seeing the segment on the steamed cheeseburgers at Ted's Restaurant.

Here's the segment (can't embed it, sorry): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2y3qJYB4V34

    Mmm...cheeseburgers.

Chickie Baby, I would chow down on a BisBurger there any day!

So... As Mrs. Soda & I entered The Gate for lunch yesterday & said "hi" to John, I was craving a buffalo chicken salad with blue cheese dressing, which isn't on the menu. I ordered a Dublin Burger instead, 'cause it's topped with blue cheese. Then I had an epiphany, and asked our terrific waitress for a little crock of DefCon Sauce on the side. I spread it on the top bun, and voila!

..So... I'm a PC, and The DefCon Blue Burger at St. James's Gate Was My Idea!

      Just sayin'...

      -s.

why would anyone ruin a good burger by putting blue cheese on it?

OTOH, why would anyone ruin one of the Gate's yummy Dublin Burgers by putting Defcon sauce on it?

NB - not dissing Defcon sauces, just don't think they're appropriate for a burger...

If it makes either of you a bit happier, I used neither the tomato, the onion, nor the lettuce...

BTW: Below is the 5-Napkin Burger from Nice Matin @ 79th & Amsterdam

Also BTW: Monster, what other cheeses are on your "how to ruin a cheeseburger" list?
