Skillman, Close Brothers, Overhead Door are the ones that I've seen mentioned on "the Lounge" most often.
There are 2 types of garage door springs extension and torsion. Torsion is a rather old tech. So your door’s springs are probably extension type.
Extension garage door springs are NOT a big deal!!!
Raise door, remove spring while it’s NOT stretched, buy new spring at depot- springs are color coded so you just get the right one. Install while door is still open
Take pix at each step so you can easily re-do. Ask any questions at depot before attempting if you feel you must.
Replacement springs should last at least a decade. I’m petty sure mine have lasted more than a decade already. Cost less than $50 for a pair-replace both at the same time
Skillman has been the most recommended on MOL for a long time.
GL and post results.
We couldn't get Skillman in time. Got the guy who did our friends' garage in S.O, $300 for the repair. That includes work on a couple of the panels that were driven into. (No, it wasn't me and alcohol wasn't involved.)

Thanks on this.
I replaced our original springs (@1927) with replacements I found online. The ones sold at big box stores were not the correct replacements, I also got heavy duty, like originals, they were about $100 each, I needed 4. They work great. All work done with door open, of course.
You need to measure weight of door, etc.
The website I used:
Ddmgaragedoors.com
It was actually a fun project

Not a power garage door. It is about 15 years old. So I did the google thing and get Olympus Door repair, Millburn, N.j.
Call, and an answering service picks up the phone... no big deal. "we'll get back to you."
10 minutes later, call comes in from Michigan. We can be there between 4 0 6 p.m. "O.K."
3:50, the guy shows up. Massachusetts license plate with no name or information on the truck. "You can always get a cheaper door fix to get you through the next, maybe year or so. $750, just to put in springs. "
If the job turns to ****, do we drive up to Massachusetts to sue?
Soooo. Who do you recommend?
