Best place to get Genmaicha tea

Recs please? TIA

Define "best"? But my favorite outlets both sell it: Teavana and Harney & Sons.

We have Harvey & Sons at work, can only get it by the cup. Where do you get it?

Online. That's how I buy my favorite tea in the world, their Hot Cinnamon Sunset.

mem, would you be interested in going in half with me on this: http://www.amazon.com/Yamamotoyama-Genmai-cha-Green-Roasted-1-69-Ounce/dp/B003X0RV7O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1368722904&sr=8-3&keywords=yamamotoyama? It's one of my favorite teas, but hard to find and expensive in regular retail locations. With this deal, it works out to just over $2 per box, or $0.13 per tea bag.

Eden brand is good, too. I used to order it from here: http://www.vitaglo.com/eden939041.html, but they've increased the minimum purchase amount for free shipping from $50 to $100, and I have a hard time finding $100 worth of things to buy in one shot.

Celestial Seasonings packaged it at one time, but I think they may have discontinued it. I'm on the last of one of those boxes now.

Jasper, I ordered this on Amazon - much cheaper, maybe not as good but I will let you know:

http://www.amazon.com/Foojoy-Genmaicha-Green-Tea-Teabags/dp/B0018QJ8BM/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1368736757&sr=1-1&keywords=Foojoy+Genmaicha+Green+Tea%2C+7+Oz%2C+100+Teabags

No worries, mem, though it's actually about the same price on a per-bag basis if you split it with someone so you're not stuck with too many boxes at once. Anyway, I'll be interested to hear how you like it, since it got mixed reviews and you can never tell if some people don't know better or some people are too picky!

Jasper I thought it was $24 for 16 teabags, not 16 boxes, ha I am brain dead today!

I can cancel my order and we can split it?

It's up to you. I'm game if you are. I know the Yamamotoyama brand is good - that's what the Japanese restaurants serve.

@jasper and @mem, I would go in with you if you wanted a third partner for the yamam...brand. We love that one.

adagio.com has it. They let existing customers send out $5 gift certainly to prospective customers, so if you want I could send you that to start you off (just PM me your email).

The 5 covers shipping then a little toward your order, so you can even order a sample tin of genmaicha (I only ordered samples my first order). it's in nj too so you usually get the tea next day even w ground shipping. I think if you order a lot shipping is free though.

Adding link: http://www.adagio.com/green/genmai_cha.html

Thanks, flugermongers, but it's still quite a bit more expensive than other options, though I don't doubt it's very good.

@shh and @mem, I don't know if mem canceled her order, but I'd be happy to go in halves or thirds or even quarters with anyone interested. Let me know and I can place the order. In order to reach the free shipping, I would also order a 12-pack of the Yamamotoyama Jasmine tea. If anyone is interested in splitting that, too, let me know.

Yeah private loose tea purveyors (adagio, teavana, David's, etc) have a ridiculously high markup (something like 75%) which is why I offered the coupon oh oh

Oh and I don't like Japanese green tea or I'd go halvzies

No problem, flug, and thanks so much for the offer.

I love the roasted green tea we discussed. Not sure about jasmine tea. Is it pure jasmine tea? Decaf or caf?

shh, it's jasmine flavored/scented green tea, so it's caffeinated as any non-decaf green tea would be.

I have one that I love, but I haven't been able to find it locally (someone sent it over from India, and I no longer have that source). The YMY one seems to be well reviewed, if only by a few reviewers, so it seems worth a try. But don't feel obligated if it's not your thing.

No, I have actually bought a jasmine green tea from trader joes, but I am less interested in a whole bunch of those. I might buy one box to try it out.

My order has shipped, but if someone wants 1/2 let me know..

Did you order the one jasper discussed? The yamamotoya brand? If so, I would.

I ordered this, it's Foojoy:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0018QJ8BM/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?keywords=Foojoy%20Genmaicha%20Green%20Tea%2C%207%20Oz%2C%20100%20Teabags&qid=1368736757&ref_=sr_1_1&s=grocery&sr=1-1

Ok, I'll pass. Never had that, love the other brand.

@shh, let me know if you still want to split the YMY 12-pack of the Genmaicha.

Okay, I'll order and let you know when it arrives, and we can coordinate. If anyone else is interested in a few boxes of the Genmai Cha (or the Jasmine tea), let me know. Otherwise, I'm going to be drinking a LOT of tea. : - )

I'll try a box jasper, just let me know how much and when, thanks.

Can I still get in on the Genma Cha? I would take a few boxes if available.

@mem and @szurka, I'll post here and PM you when the tea arrives, and you can each buy just the number of boxes of either or both teas that you want. The Genmai Cha will be $2.10 per box, and the Jasmine, $2.20 per box. Thanks!

@jasper, me too! I'll take two or three boxes.

Lots of green tea from China is loaded with pesticides. I would not eat or drink anything from Mainland China on a regular basis. The 'organic' claim is for the tea is only regulated up to the point that someone may or may not be taking a bribe.
