April 21 Earth Day River Clean Up

from Bob Roe;   The Environmental Advisory Committee and Green Team are once again holding a Rahway River clean up on Saturday April 21st from 10:00am until 2:00pm.   Bags and gloves will be supplied.  Wear boots or sneakers that can get wet and will protect your feet.   For the volunteers, we will be providing grilled veggie burgers.    Meet at the Civic House in Memorial Park or by the High School parking lot West Parker Ave.  

This event is great for scout troops, and families.   The world looks a little different when you are in the river and you learn to appreciate our natural environment.   

Bump.   Weather report looks okay for Saturday, but perhaps a little chilly.   i suspect with the heavy rain that a lot of litter washed into the Rahway River.  Hope to see you Saturday 10-2pm  Let's make our park shine.  Hot veggie burgers for all volunteers.  

Bump for Tuesday night.  I surveyed the East Branch of the Rahway River in Maplewood today.   There is more debris and plastic litter than in past years.  Perhaps due to the storms we have had recently.   So, I hope if you are even considering coming our Saturday to help clean the river that you will. 10am-2pm meet at Civic House in Memorial Park or by CHS parking lots.  Veggie burgers for those who brave the chilly water.

from Bob Roe:  On behalf or the Env. Committee and the Green Team, I want to thabnk all the volunteers who helped at the river clean up.   We had nearly 100 volunteers at the Civic House and at West Parker Ave.  The river looks much much cleaner from the South Orange line to Baker St.and up the Crooked Brook behind the Library.  The lots on West Parker are very clean and so does Memorial Park.   Thanks to CHS students, Montclair State students, the many adults and small children who helped.   I personally really liked the veggie burgers.   Let me know if you liked them too or want something else next year.
