anywhere that stocks refurb laptops for immediate purchase

in Union/Essex county.  I tried MicroCenter/Paterson, it broke 2 months later and they hassled me. So I don't want to go back there.

Would prefer to not have it shipped to my house and left out to be stolen.  Not sure if they fit in an Amazon Locker, but the ones I looked at aren't shipped by Amazon.

I believe Walmart can be shipped to store, which is a better option, but ideally if there is an urgent need, I would like to be able to just run and get it and not have it shipped at all.

Costco has laptops, and they'll extend the warranty for 2 years.

What is the price difference between  new and refurbished?  It could be worth getting a new laptop that comes with a warrantee.

You can ship Best Buy to the store. Not sure if they have any (refurb) in stock.

seems to be about half the cost to get a refurb v brand new. the cheapest Costco option for me would be $700 plus the membership fee.  I'm look at about $250 for a refurb for similar products that are about $500 brand new now. (with windows 10---i'd like to keep 8, but microsoft is ending it).  My current lap top needs to be fixed/replaced as it is...the keyboard doesn't work so I have to use an old plug in key board which doesn't really allow it to be portable--i can, but its cumbersome.

notwithstanding your own bad experience, I've bought several refurbs from microcenter - laptops and desktops - with no issues. Not sure offhand if they offer extended warranties on refurbs, but if they do, I'd give microcenter another shot. I think they're the only game in town if you want to just walk in and buy something. (and I know, extended warranties are kind of a rip-off, but if it buys you peace of mind they're worth it)

it wasn't so much that the laptop broke, it was the way they hassled me....i ended up taking the loss and buying elsewhere.

Yeah, I do have to agree that dealing with the salespeople at microcenter is usually unpleasant. My last few purchases have been done online so all I have to do is go and pick up.

Have you tried Tanmax Computer on Springfield Ave?

Second comment, Adding, I always had good service at Tanmax.    I was sorry to read bad reviews.

at microcenter, it was the hassle trying to get it repaired....i will consider looking into tanmax....i do have an old desktop refurb someone gave me....and finally figured out how I could set it up on my current desk..i have disability related issues with the monitor and keyboard positioning...nothing like a little desperation to motivate me to figure it out!  a laptop would still be more functional, but the desktop will be adequate until I can get a new laptop.
