Any ideas for monetizing a "free vacation" prize?

Negotiate a price, based on fair value. Get paid. Transfer.
Edited to add: If you mean "How do you find potential buyers?", then a Craigslist ad, or classified would seem to be your route.
Is the trip connected to a hard sell enterprise: time share, investment opportunity, etc.? If so, it probably has no monetary value.

Relative won a free vacation for two that must be taken in August. They cannot go. The trip is transferable. Any ideas on how they might "sell" this free vacation?
