Any Cosmic Crisp sitings? ---- Found in Ohio!

Has anyone seen the new Cosmic Crisp apple anywhere? Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck has them for $3.49 - a little pricey, but I'd buy a couple to try them out. But Colts Neck is bit too far for an apple.

Wegman's in Parsippany doesn't have them.

I'm eager to know how they taste, and what the natural chemical loading of them is. (I don't think we'll have the answers to part b of my question for quite a while)

Maybe that arty banana shoulda been a Cosmic Crisp??? cheese cheese

Kings in Livingston has them. Other Kings might have them too. The Cosmic Crisp website says that ShopRite is supposed to have them also, but I haven't seen them there.

However, I'm sensing a lack of excitement in the MOL community over this momentous culinary event.  LOL

Kings had them.

$3.99 an apple.

I passed.

If you have one of those veggie dryer things (I’ve forgotten the name, they dehydrate you’re food to preserve it), you could slice your apple into thin wedges or rings. Enjoy a slice monthly for up to 2 years...?
Good value for $4.

I think dehydrating this apple sort of defeats the whole "crisp" aspect of the fruit.

Only for the first year cheese

Which makes me think... if kids find them at the bottom of their school bags, of course they’ll still be able able to eat the apples, so maybe there’s better value than we’re imagining... *shudder*

I really have to get on to that job app.ETA did it!! Wish me luck for an interview!

Just saw this related item re longer lasting avos and mandarins being sold in the UK.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/dec/09/avocados-with-edible-coating-to-go-on-sale-in-europe-for-first-time

We take a lot of year-round availability here for granted. I guess a lot of that is going to change after this awful summer. Have you bought these avos and mandas? Is the flavour affected?

hot damn. went to visit my brother who lives near Cleveland, and I found the Cosmics at a Giant Eagle supermarket in Bainbridge for 2.99 a pound. Bought 4 but haven't tasted yet. Will report back.

geez. that was disappointing. crisp but too tart for my tastes.

oh well.

Trader Joe's in Millburn has some.  Got a couple--haven't tried 'em yet. $1.69

It’s possible the Australian growers have lost their saplings in the Victorian and NSW fire & water emergencies. We probably won’t get any for a couple of years LOL oh well.

I work for The FruitGuys, and have talked to our buyers about them. according to our Phila buyer-they're a Braeburn apple cross and called "cosmic" on account of the vibrant (and normal lenticel spots) that are on the skin.

farmers hate them because they're a somewhat normal apple cross that was given a very fancy name and heavily marketed by the large Washington state mega growers.

Sorry about the shade, but another bad thing about them is that they're a controlled "club variety" just like the New York state Snap Dragon and you're not allowed to grow them unless you've paid the owners of the "patent". SO many other great varietals out there.

just as well. I didn't care for them much.

Hey, how do you go about getting a good Delicious apple? I've avoided them for years because they kinda suck, but my SIL was telling me that it's possible to find delicious Delicious.
