Airb&b / vbro in London & Paris

Going to London and Paris in August (yay!).  Would prefer to stay in an apt instead of a hotel for myself/hubby/2 teen girls.  Been doing site searches but I figured I'd see if anyone had specific experience or recommendations.

TIA

These are our go tos:

There are some advantages of using agencies. I’ve also used Homeaway in other cities but these are tried and true.

In case you haven’t traveled in Europe/summer, keep in mind it may be hard to find AC, esp in apartments. Even the smaller hotels are not likely to have AC like we are used to.

thanks!  Some nice places on those sites on which I will follow up.

I will say the Airb&b site is easier to navigate / filter. I was able to look for apts with AC and a washing machine.  And I like the ability to look at the options on a map, though I don't know either city well.  Plus reviews on most of the properties is nice.

I was hoping for specific property reccos for 4 people if anyone has a place they loved (or hated).

We used Parisaddress.com and stayed in a beautiful centrally located apt near everything, shopping, metro and the Louvre.

question re: Air B&B-  a few years ago I tried to register with them.  While they didn’t specifically say my picture was required, I couldn’t proceed(complete) w/o posting one.  Once I realized a pic was actually required to join we decided to not join.  Has that changed?

I signed up for airbnb about six months ago and they did require a picture.

WN- vacation in paris is located in New Jersey and they are happy to help with ideas via phone or email. We love the left bank--esp 6th and 7th Arr.

With London Connection, one apt we have used is on Pall Mall, which has a master bedroom and second bedroom with 2 twins. One bathroom. Great central location, there was some noise from traffic which we were told was exacerbated by rerouting related to Olympics/construction. No AC though.

Thanks KT,  I’ll look into this again.

we stayed in this airbnb in London a couple of years ago.  The host was a very nice gentleman who lives in the neigborhood.  He had a number of recommendations for restaurants and other activities:
