The Ethical Culture Society is pleased to present a program on the Lenape Indians, “Lenape: Their Culture, History and Relevance. The presentation will be by Dan Kaslow who engaged in more than a year of serious research into the Lenape people and developed programs based on his research at the Maplewood Memorial Library and South Mountain Conservancy.

Dan will focus on two aspects of the Lenape. The first is their influence and cultural impact on not only early European settlers, but also our current society. The second focus will be on tracing the history of the Lenape from their earliest ancestors who arrived in New Jersey towards the end of the last Ice Age and have remained into the 21st century.

Dan is a long-time resident of Maplewood who has been active in a variety of roles with many local and civic organizations. He is the author of the highly popular Maplewood Compendium, a collection of information about notable people, places, organizations and events in the 350-year history of Maplewood. He is currently working on his second book, a historical novel set in Maplewood during the American Revolution.
