Formed at The Juilliard School in September 2016, the Ansonia Quartet has been awarded a Gluck Community Service Fellowship as well as a position in the Honors Chamber Music Program through Juilliard for the 2017-18 academic year. The Ansonia launched a successful crowdfunding campaign over the summer of 2017 to finance a tour throughout Japan, including performing and teaching in Tokyo and Oita. This season, the Ansonia held a residency at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance, working closely with the Dover Quartet, had a one-week tour in Toronto giving community engagement performances and coaching a youth orchestra, appeared at the Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center for masterclass with Ani Kavafian, performed with the New York City Ballet, and gave a world premiere of Jia Daqun’s Second String Quartet at FOCUS! Festival. At school, the quartet worked primarily with Ronald Copes and Roger Tapping of the Juilliard String Quartet.
