On Sunday, March 24, 2:30 PM at Temple B’nai Abraham, Livingston, TBA Prime Time will present “Jews and All That Jazz” featuring Emmet Cohen, Acclaimed Jazz Pianist. Join us as Prime Time celebrates Rabbi Kulwin’s 20 years at Temple B’nai Abraham with this illustrious musical guest and special program!

Much of the best loved jazz standards, such as “Body and Soul,” “How High the Moon,” “Sweet Georgia Brown” are the work of Jewish songwriters. Is it coincidence?  Or something more? From the keyboard, Pianist Emmet Cohen explores the intersection of Jews and jazz, leading us into the life and work of some of the most important composers and, of course, playing their music.

Cohen, a Montclair native, is one of the most acclaimed young jazz pianists today, lauded by Downbeat, Jazz Times, the New York Times, and WBGO. The winner of multiple international competitions, he has played with many of the world’s most famous jazz musicians, in addition to performing as a solo artist, and fronting his own group, the Emmet Cohen Trio.

Cohen holds a Master’s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, where he studied with esteemed pianist and educator Shelly Berg.  In his formative years he was tutored in classical piano at the Manhattan School of Music’s Pre-College Division.

A powerful and charismatic performer, Emmet Cohen possesses wide-ranging talents that are reinvigorating the contemporary arts world both domestically and internationally and are received enthusiastically worldwide.

Light refreshments will be served. The cost is $12 per person. All are welcome to attend! Registration is required, www.tbanj.org  or call 973.994.2290.
